The Select Committee is currently investigating the January 6th attack (what is now known as the January 6th committee). The January 6th committee has 9 representatives including 7 democrats and 2 republicans. The January 6th committee includes:
Democrats: Bennie Thompson (Committee chairman), Zoe Lofgren, Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, Pete Aguilar, Stephanie Murphy, Elaine Luria
Republicans: Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger
I think Trump had nothing to do with the Jan. 6th attack. Before the attack on January 6th, 2021, President Trump said in his speech, “So we’re going to, we’re going to walk down Pennsylvania Avenue. I love Pennsylvania Avenue. And we’re going to the Capitol, and we’re going to try and give. The Democrats are hopeless, they never vote for anything. Not even one vote. But we’re going to try and give our Republicans, the weak ones because the strong ones don’t need any of our help. We’re going to try and give them the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country. So, let’s walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.” Nowhere in that speech says anything about breaking into the capital and creating havoc. In my opinion he is just saying, “Go down to the capital and protest peacefully. Give the Republican pride and boldness to make the right decision for our country.”
About three weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi released a government official document regarding the Jan. 6th attack on the United States Capitol. This document includes a large list of people including President Trump and his family, Government officials (mainly republicans), and even influencers. This document was meant for the FBI and other government agencies; therefore, this shouldn’t have been released. This letter and attachment from Bennie G. Thompson, Chairman of the January 6th committee, was being sent to Archivist (They research and review different historical records to decide how significant or valuable they are to history, often work with an abundance of document types like maps, manuscripts and photographs.), David S. Ferriero, is asking for requests regarding the Jan. 6th attack investigation. Now this makes me think if they put out this kind of information what other important private/personal information are they going to put out next. Also, this can be a clue of what kind of information they are giving to people about us and our personal information like credit cards, ID’s, etc. I feel like this is only the start for information like this being put out into the public.
In summary, Jan.6th started out normal. President Trump had a speech. Then the citizens turned it around fast, as well as democrats. They think Trump was behind all of this because he told the United States citizens to go to the capital and help the republicans in the capital to make the right decision for the United States.

Good topic choice Colton! I do think you should have shown/explained what happened on Jan. 6 a bit more. Set the stoy up-why were people there in the first place. I think embedding a video of it would help as well.
Of course the dude who still peddles the idea that he won the election is partially responsible for inciting the Jan 6th riot. Not just him, but others who pushed for that lie as well. FOX News played a large part in getting the idea out to the masses.
I think they wanted to release the document because they wanted to show everyone what really happend becasue it just happend a few months ago and people really want to know the truth about what happend January 6. I think it was peaceful protest until people started going into the capital and then I thought this was going way too far.
I think that they release documents to notify the public of what happend. I think that the attack on January 6 was definetly blown out of proportion by the media in the wrong way. The media definetly made it seem like it was all because of Trump wich I dont think is the case.
I think the goverment releases the info to the public so people know whats going on and actually have an answer to it. I think the attack was just people being dumb because there are a lot of dumb people in the world and i think there just trying to make trump look bad.
I feel like a government releases info to the public so that people can have answers to something, if there's no concrete evidence then speculation starts to occur, once that happens rumors begin, and eventually, some rumors become so powerful they become movements and it creates way more problems than what would even be worth not telling them. The attacks were a little comical in a way, with how some of the people dressed up and trying to take people serious when they dress up like a Viking just doesn't work.
In my opinion it is natural for government to not tell it's citizens exactly what happened. They want to do what they are supposed to in a silent way. And i think despite the social media, Trump had nothing to o with it. I believe that riots and protests should have been handled lot more differently.
I think the government only tells us some things. They are still trying to make Trump the bad guy. I don't think he told people to go cause riots and problems like what happened that day. But I also think the news only tells us parts of the story. I don't think we will ever really know what happened that day. There are new videos that showing people acting totally different than what the first videos showed.
I don't believe Trump had anything to do with the capitol hill riot. I believe that this riot happened the free will of the rioters and wasn't forced or told by Trump to riot or break into the white house. I think that the protest should have been handled very differently with more guards and arrests should have been made on the spot for any lawbreakers.
I also do not think that the Capital attacks on January 6th had anything to do with Trump. I think that the protest could have been handled differently and it morphed into being Trumps fault because of the republican ideals they were promoting and because certain people didn't want Trump to be allowed back in office.
