Is The Government Violating Our Constitutional Rights

During the past few years the U.S. has been through major events from city wide protests, riots, cities breaking away from the government, a world wide pandemic, conspiracy theories of corruption within the government and so much more. These issues have divided this country in two. Leading to the question: is the government infringing on our constitutional rights?

The topic of losing our right to bear arms has been something that has been floating around for years and years, however the shortage of ammo coming into the country has lead to people wondering if the government is limiting the production of amo to limit the use of firearms, thus  avoiding directly cutting through the second amendment. However this theory is something that is completely divided between it being plausible and it being ridiculous. The ammo production coming into this country is very low compared to years prior, as well as the prices sky rocketing for the ammo that is in stock in stores. However this can be argued by the fact that there are less workers to physically make the ammo therefore limiting the amount being shipped in.

Theories of the government violating the first amendment is something that has also been brought up for debate. The erasing of websites and broadcasts is something that is happening however not talked about. Many of these are right leaning platforms. An example of this is Steven Crowders media presence which has dwindled in the past few months, as he has been flagged for several posts on his social media for his information “being fact checked”and for other violations. His podcast Louder With Crowder has been banned on youtube for violating their covid policy. Youtube stated that the video was in violation due to him saying that he can not say that the death rates of Covid-19 were lower than what was being reported as well as comparing it to the common flu. As a result of this statement his video was removed. Hence people saying it is a violation of the freedom of speech, due to that statment being strictly opinion based.

There are many other statements and theories that people believe support this claim. The new vaccine requirements for businesses and government positions is becoming yet another issue with many, however this topic was not one I wanted to bring up considering how fresh it is. So what are your thoughts on the situation? Is the government becoming invasive? Or is it all a matter of opinion and a tactic to keep Americans safe?

  • Really enjoyed reading this Emily. Well done! Be sure to have the tech department or parents email me to confim last weeks computer issues.

  • I believe that slowly, the government is starting to strip rights from Americans.  It is starting to take over, leaving little room for freedom. As the governments invades, people are going to be upset about it.

  • I don't think the government is playing us. The government is supposed to be for the people and their salaries are paid by the taxes we pay. Also everything is backed up right now. Personally, I can't get a garage door until December for our new shed, let alone bullets or ammo.

  • I can kind of see where people are coming with the ammo theory. How the government would be indirectly trying to take away the second amendment. I mean it makes sense, but it isn't right at all. They are and have been trying to get rid of our right to bear arms, and when it wasn't going the direction they wanted it to, they had to resort to something else. I understand where they are coming from and trying to protect us by taking away what kills, but they also protect, and is a very widely known sense of safety.

    • Exactly. Its a very loaded question in terms of what the real answer is. I do think a lot of it is because of the lack of workers which leads to lack of production, however sometimes it seems a bit too convient with the timing. In my opinion at least.

  •  I agree with the opinion that government wants to change some of citizens rights. I think government trying to limit the ammunition is not a terrible idea because we should not ignore the fact that half of the worlds weapons is in United States. When it comes to the first ammendment and freedom of speech, i think US is trying to reduce the division between republicans and demorcats so that United states becomes one again; but we can't say that they are doing good so far.

  • I think that the government is trying to take away all of our rights. The government wants people to follow what they want not what the American people want. They want to take away our freedoms slowly. I think that they should just leave our rights alone and let us all be indeviduals.

  • I think that it is a big deal if they are violating our rights and the people need to stand up and tell them or protest and do it legally.

  • I think the world it is pretty sure on the way to devide! There are the people they are for the covid vaccine and all the rules but there are also people they are against it and right now one side pushes the other down. And that is worldwide likely the side which is for vaccines and the rules and want even more contorl.... I think it is bad and horrible we should work together.

  • I agree that the government is taking away some of our rights. Ammunition is now super expensive and pretty much nowhere else. Finding ammunition is difficult to find and obtain due to our corrupt government. If the government wants to protect us, it must let us buy all the ammunition we want to protect
