Is Starbucks Cheating You?

A file has been filed recently against Starbucks for underfilling lattes and other assorted drinks ... And now they are being sued! The claim says that Starbucks advertises up to 25% more than what they deliver. Not only that, but they are also accused of making cups too small which forces them to serve less than they advertise. Another way of looking at this is that Starbucks, on average, serves 12 ounces when they advertise that it is 16 ounces. Starbucks replied to this claim with "we are aware of the plaintiffs' claims, which we fully believe to be without merit. We are proud to serve our customers high-quality, handcrafted and customized beverages, and we inform customers of the likelihood of variations."

Do you think people are over-reacting?

Why do you think this case was filed? What result will come out of it?

Do you like Starbucks? Why or why not.

  • Well done once again!

  • I think the people are over reacting about the under filling of drinks. I believe this was filed because they want attention to themselves from this and money. I don't like it because I hate coffee and other drinks like that.

  • I think people are over-reacting but if they are going to under fill cups to their customers then they need to get what they deserve. It isn't right that they advertise something and then it isn't the same exact thing when you go to purchase it. I believe this is a very little and ridiculous case but it's also funny that people bring things up like this!

  • I do think people are over-reacting about the underfilling of drinks. I mean if you aren't happy about your quality then you shouldn't go there. I think this case was filed because they are looking for attention and money.

  • I honestly don't think this is a huge deal, but if they are being dishonest with their sales, then they should get what they deserve. Starbucks makes a lot of money, and are very popular, but if they are being dishonest, they should be sued.

    • I agree with you, Charlotte. I think this is a bit extreme, but if this is the cost of honestly then be it. If you were shorted food at a restaurant would you complain?

  • I think that people are overreacting because it's basically about coffee that they are suing about. They have a reasonable claim that they are being cheated of their money. I think Starbucks will lose the case. No I don't drink coffee

    • I think people are overreacting because, yes, it is coffee. Let's say you were at a restaurant and you were shorted a lot of the food you paid for, would you complain to the manager?

  • Yes and no.. Yes because it's what you paid for and then they all of a sudden go down on it and then No because it Is just coffee and a drink and other place probably do it to. Taking your money for what is not there.. and I just think it will get shut down other wise nothing will happen. Yes but I don't get it everyday...

    • I think that filing a lawsuit can be a bit extreme, even in this case. But what if you were shorted food at a restaurant, would you complain to a manager?
