Is Plant Based Meat Better For You?

Plant based meat is a term to describe foods that mimic meat products but are actually made from plants and other products. Many people believe that eating plant based meat will benefit their health. However, most people that eat it have no knowledge on wether it is better or worse for them. Some people believe that it is cruel to slaughter animals for food, but aren't they killing plants to make these plant based foods?

Some plant based meats are made for vegans, while others contain ingredients such as eggs and milk. Plant based meats tend to be very high in sodium. They are also overly processed and are not any healthier than the meat they are mimicing. For example, the Impossible Burger at McDonalds has six times more sodium in it than a regular Quarter Pounder. Some plant based meats also have extra artificial fillers and additives that are giving you no nutrients.

I have lived on a beef farm ever since I was born and have ate real meat my whole life. However, there are some cons to eating real meat, but there are many more pros. Real meat has great sources of protein and provide your body with a wide variety of nutrients. Meat is a healthy part of a diet. If eating fake meat is not healthier than eating real meat then what is the point in eating it?

Have you ever ate plant based meat?

Do you think it is healthier?

  • Solid job Hannah! I would like to see you axpand a bit more on your summary. Inlcude what research says about this topic. Great topic choice and one that hasn't been done so +5.

  • I think plant-based meat is not good for you. I do not think you can consider it meat if it does not come from a living animal. I don't know the science behind it but I can not see how it is good for you. Real meat has many nutrients inside of it and they are good for you.

    • I agree, you cannot call it meat if it is coming from a plant.

  • I don't think plant based meat is healthy with all the preservatives and fillers they put in it. Although processed meat is pretty unhealthy so is the plant based ones

  • I think plant based meat is a joke. You can not call it meat if it is not real meat. If you make a burger out of plants it dose not hold the nutritional value of real meat. Meat is good for you but to much is not. You need to know how to ration your food. Most people don't even know where their food comes from so they think they can call it unhealthy or wrong.

    • I agree, I don't think they can even call it plant based meat because there is no meat in it.

  • I have never eaten fake meat and don't ever want to either. If it tastes and looks the same as real meat, I would rather just eat real meat. I feel like real meat is a lot better for you, especially because of how much lower sodium regular meat has than the fake stuff.

  • I have never ate a plant based mean and im not planning to because its a fake meat pretty much. I do not think its healthier because its just fake meat, and if you were going to eat fake meat you might as well eat real meat because its pretty much like eating the same thing.

  • I have never eaten plant-based meat. I think actual meat is better for you because it is a good source of protein. Also, if we all changed to plant-based foods, farmers with cattle would lose a lot of money. I also think having meat in your diet is very beneficial for you.

    • I agree, I don't think lots of people know where their food actually comes from and how hard these people are working to provide them with meat.
