Is individual teaching better than group teaching?

Well whats the difference in the first place? Individual is kind is like being home schooled, Its teaching the person directly and catering to their direct needs and struggles as an individual. Group teaching is school, Where everyone is piled into a large class and fed information and usually have to ask for help one on one with the teacher or another classmate or some random website thats give them the answers for near zero amount of work. On to the question, Is individual teaching better than group teaching? Its a big maybe, As with most things there are advantages and disadvantages to it, but personally knowing myself and how I learn, I feel individual teaching is best overall teaching practice.

The advantages for individual teaching do vary abit but often are very typical. Number 1. timing, Classes can start and stop whenever. There may be some days when the student cant learn that day, so the lesson could be postponed rather than made up through otherways on their own time after school. Number 2. Stress and confidence levels for a student is considerably less. Studies have shown that when cared for and taught in a one on one session the stress of learning is toned down very much compared to in a classroom. Confidence also increases as the student begins to feel better with being cared for and taught properly rather than flying through the lesson. Number 3. The learning can go much further outside than a room much more often than a classroom can, Students in individual can go out and use their skills that they learn in class to gain experience as they learn to help solidify their lessons with actualy practical use and practice.

Lets talk disadvantages, First thing that comes to mind in a typical one on one lesson is that its one on one. Complete lack of social interaction, Group teaching has got this one beat, I do not think many are going to give up seeing their friends everyday in class. Secondly, The amount of workers required to teach atleast Americas youth even if say 3-4 were taught at a time would be millions more than already hired. Thirdly, Materials and equipment, most private tutors probably dont have all the resources a teacher in a school would have, and if they did, it probably came with a pricy tag attached out of their own pocket.

So my question stands, Do you think that individual teaching is better than group teaching?

I really like your topic and your summary is well done. You didn't reply to any student comments which is worth 30 points.

  • I think the idea of individual teaching is better because it helps people learn in the best way possible. Although, it's hard to pull off individual teaching. Group teaching has social interaction which is very important, but we could bring individualism to group teaching.

  • I think that individual teaching is better than group teaching for some students. However, for other students, this is different. They should be tought in groups because in real life people aren't going to take time out of their day to teach them 1 on 1.

  • I think that individual teaching is a better method for many people. But, I do not think that it is always the best way to learn or the most aplicable. This is mainly because once you are out in the real world people are not going to take the time to teach you everything you need to learn individually.

  • I think that individual teaching is better because you have that one on one learning experience. Your learning better if you have more of an understandig fro the teacher if it's jsut you and the teacher rather than the whole group. If your with the whole group you might not understand but the others in the group will.

  • I think that by learning in a group, there is a sense of society and community. You learn with your friends, and you can help each other understand what the teacher cannot explain. You also learn about how to act in public vs. private. However, each student is different and their answers may vary depending on their experiences.

  • i think group is better but sometimes people need individual help

  • I think that people do a lot better with individual teaching becasue some people are scared to ask questions in front of people. I think that it would help me too because I wouldn't get as distracted and it would be easier to understand some things.

  • Both ways of teaching have their pros and cons. With group teaching you dont have to have as many teachers because its a group. Yet sometimes it might a be a bit harder to teach because theres so many there and you might not have a chance to get to eash student to see if they understand whatyou are teaching. Then thers indivudual teaching, in a way its better beacuse if you dont get something then the teacher is right there. main downside is that you might need to get a lot of teachers.

  • This could go either way but I think learning in a group is much better. You may not learn everything you need to know being homeschooled. Individual learning doesn't allow students to be able to be in the real world and meet friends. So personally group teaching, I think, would be better.
