History is the knowledge and study of the past. It's the retelling of events that have made us. Many people debate the age-old question: Is history essential to learn?
People who say that history is vital to teach have a few main reasons. For one, learning history helps to give us a clear picture of how different parts of society- technology, government systems, etc.- used to work and came about so we can see how far we've progressed. History shows how people, animals, and a huge number of technological things have evolved, and it can be fascinating to learn about. Another main reason that history is taught today is identity. History enables people to learn about where they come from, who their ancestors are and what they went through. They can understand how they went through actual significant change.
There are some arguments that said history is a dead subject and that it's irrelevant to teach children about it. When studying history, a lot of people just memorize dates and names instead of actually taking the time to learn the significance behind them. Also, a lot of historical events can be interpreted in different ways and therefore it can be very misconstrued. It's also very fragmented, meaning that since a lot of historical events get passed down through words, it's hard to always have the full story and completely understand it. Plus, a lot of people just find history very boring.
So what do you think?
Should history continue to be taught to kids, or is it unnecessary? Do you like learning about history?

Love your topic choice and I enjoyed reading comments. Glad to see most people think history is important(or are they just saying that thinking I will read it??) It has not been done this year so +5. I would like to see your summary another paragraph longer and for you to reply back a few more times as well. Be sure to check back Thurday afternoon/evening.
I think that history is a very important subject. I think it is necessary to teach the youth of our nation the history of how our country started, the good and the bad. Without teaching our history it will be much more likely that we will repeat it at some point. I personally do enjoy learning about history.
I think history is a good subject to learn, history can help catch you up one what has happend in the world. Teens and adults should learn how important the U.S is and how hard it was to gain what we have. I personally like learning about history, just so I can get caught up on what happend recently and what happend before I was born.
I think that history is very important to learn. I think that history is more then just a class that discuss's what went on. I think it teaches kids what not to do, and to prevent the same things from happening again. I also think it educates future voters. I think that without knowledge of past presidents and even past events, then you're not educated a lot when it comes to how you feel like voting.
I think it is important for kids to learn about history. Kids should know how their country was developed and got to where it was. Although, history is not my favorite subject, I do think it is somewhat important to learn.
I believe history should continue to be taught, it's important to understand and know what happended in the past so you can best prepare for the future. You can't just cruise through life not knowing about your country, your planet, and your people. By knowing mistakes in the past you can learn from that and know better.
I think it is important for students to learn about history, but I do think they can go without it. It is nice to learn about what has happened in our world way back when. They do say history repeats itself so maybe learning it and trying to not bring bad things back would help.
I think history is needed in school. It is not just for state requirement, but so we do not repete what we did in the past. History should just be common knowlegde. History should be known because of events in the past that might effect us in the future like the BLM. All lives matter and we freed them a long time ago and it should not effect us now.
I agree, I don't know about world history, but I feel like students should at least learn about U.S. history. I think it is good to know what the people did then so then maybe if a similar circumstance would come up again in the future we would have an idea of what to do.
I feel that it is important for kids to learn about history. I feel that kids need to learn how countries fought and gained control of different areas of land. I feel that it is important that when kids go out in the real world they need to know America's history. So they don’t sound like they don’t know any American history.
