Is cheating in school ever justified?

Most people wouldn't ever see cheating justifiable especially in schools. The main reason students are cheating on homework is because they don't get it or don't have the energy or motivation to do it. If someone sends the answers to a worksheet, most students are gonna take it and copy them down. Students that are cheating on homework are usually gonna have to do the same on test. Is it ever justifiable?

Some students would say that the things they are learning, they aren't ever gonna use so they have no intrest in learning them, which makes it harder to understand. If they aren't understanding the concept the easiest thing to do is cheat on it. Some say that if the class is so difficult, that is their only way to get through it. Or if the teacher of the class isn't the best at teaching. Does this make it justified?

Most would say no. Most classes in school can be difficult but cheating isn't the way to get through it.  Some say that if the class is too difficult try to get help and not do it by cheating. If students get the answers from another student, more than likely they will take them. But on a test it isn't as easy. And if you get caught cheating in college it is a bigger consequence than it is in high school.

Do you think cheating is ever justified?

If it's just on homework, is it as bad?

  • Good job overall Abby! The topic has been done this year, but not this semester. You did a great job replying to students! I do think your summary could be a bit longer.

  • I do not think cheating in school is ever justified, although I do think that some teachers allow it. If teachers are freely giving students the opporitunity to cheat, then they are going to cheat. I don't think it is bad to use somebody elses homework in order to understand the topic better.

  • I don't think cheating is ever justified but I don't think that really matters because whether it is or isn't it will always happen. teens just want to get the best grade possible even if they have to cheat to get it. I don't think cheating on homework is as bad though. Homework is just preparing for the test so if don't wanna do it that's your own choice.

  • I don't think it is right to cheat. If it is on homework I don't think it is that big of a deal because there often isn't enough time to get help on it so you might be able to better understand it by getting the answers. I do not think it is right to cheat on tests tho.

    • I agree, homework isn't as bad.

  • I don't think people should cheat on test, because then the teacher can't see if the kids understand it. However, I don't think it is a bad thing on homework because if someone else sends some answer to a person who doesn't get it, it might help them understand it better.

    • I agree, it's worse to do it on a test.

  • I think that it is never justifed. It is not faire to other people if they studied and do good, and someone cheats and does good too. I understand that teachers sometimes do not give enough time to study, but I think that it still does not justiy cheating in school.

  • Cheating is never justifiable. Say you make an invention. It is unique; it has never been seen before. One of your rivals copies you and applies for the patent first. Who is cheated out the situation? Cheating is not right, and my example proves that to be so. I hope that people, especially in school, realize how important it is to grow and nourish your mind.

  • I don't think that cheating should ever be justified because cheating won't get you anywhere if you don't know things for yourself.  I understand that if you aren't as good at one subject but that just means you have to work harder to understand it.  I don't think it is as bad if it is just on homework though.
