This has been argued over for many years and has lots of information supporting both sides of the argument. For a long time humans have tested on animals with almost never questioning if it is ethical or not. Animal testing includes many levels of cuelty expanding from non violent things like changing rats DNA to make them glow to very cruel things like sewing cats eyes closed and making rabbits inhale toxic fumes. In some situations its very beneficial though, like when they tested on cows creating a vacination for small pox.
Some people believe that animals have rights just like humans and should not be able to be tested on. Some evidence backing that up is that a lot of the time its not reliable information as animals are different than humans. Different things are toxic to animals then humans and animals dont get the same drug side effects as humans, so this causes non reliable information and can be serverly dangerous to animals whitout the humans having a clue. It is also argued that animal experimentations are very expensive and there are many people willing to be tested on for a smaller amount of money.
Many people believe that animal testing is fine and ethics arent a problem as long as it is for the benefit of humans. Because they arent humans and cant express their feelings to us, there is nothing unethical about it. Others argue that just because they dont express their feelings does not mean that they dont have feelings so its completely unethical to test on them. The people that think ethics dont matter believe that humans arent being hurt or damaged in these tests so its better to have animals as they are not as important.
I believe that testing on animals is not ethical in some situations like when they but the animal in danger or risk its life, but if its not in risk of harming the animal or being cruel to it then its fine. Killing animals is not ok while experimenting as you would not want it to be done to humans but if it is a harmless test I dont see any reason not to do it. Just imagine if you didnt have any choice or saying in it and the government just picked you out to be experimented on and there was a chance of you dying from it. that does not seem very ethical to me and that is why I believe that this should not be allowed. Yes, there may be a few instances where they think it wont cause harm and it does but that should not happen to often.

Great topic choice and well done Luke! Be sure to comment on three different days.
I kind of think it is and isn't because sure it is cruel but also it helps us test things that could possibly be harmful to humans but don't want to kill them. I'm not to sure what we could use other than humans. I think it would depend on what it is and how much I would be getting paid.
I believe that testing on animal sis not ethical in most situations. I don't know what we could substitute animal testing for. If I got paid I would be a test subject as long as it wasn't harmful.
I agree that animal testing is not ethical in some situations and I also dont know what we would use as a substitute, which is why I believe that we must use animals as there is nothing else to use.
I think that testing on animals is unethical to an extent. Instead of testing on animals we could easily test on something that is non-living, for example mannequins, dolls, etc. No, I would not be a test subject since there can be underlying health risks that I'm not aware of and could be very harmful.
I do not think testing on certain animals are unethical. We need studies to show that it will work. And you them as a test subject is one of those studies that are making possitive testing for medicain and other things. I do not think they could put a price for me to become a test subject. Hypicritical for me to say that but I do not believe a human life should be tested on.
I think that it truely depends on the situations. It is cruel to animals in a way that is so unbearable it is sickening. But on the flip side, that same tourture happening to humans while testing it out is just as awful. Depening on if the animal will be hurt I think determines the right thing to do.
I agree with you, I think testing on animals is unethical if the animal is getting hurt and killed, but we still need to do the tests and research somewhere which is why I feel that animals may be the best thing to do it on.
I think that if testing on animals is done correctly it is ethical becuase if we didn't test on animals then many more people would have died to a lot of different diseases and animal testing has also helped save other animals live so I think in most cases it is ethical.
I can agree with you as animal testing has helped the discorvery of many vacccinations and other things to help humans and other animals live. That is part of the reason I feel it would be hard to stop testing on them as it has helped us with so many big discorveries.
