Is Abortion Murder?

First off, What is Abortion?

Abortion is a medical procedure when a female no longer wants to have a child. The reason being could be many reasons, including... it not being the right time, partner-related issues, and not being mature enough. Most Abortions they can be done Medically, within the first 11 weeks after a menstrual cycle, after that it involves surgery.  The fetus will start feeling pain as early as 12 weeks, and they are what most sites call "fully formed", and are about the size of a plum.

In Roe vs Wade, the US Supreme Court ruled that " the constitution of the United States protects a pregnant women’s liberty to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restrictions". But the history of Abortion goes way back, mostly during the 1820s, when women would take, dangerous drugs in order to kill the child. But in the 1850s, they started to criminalize the idea of abortions, and in 1869 the Catholic Church banned all abortions altogether. By the 1880s abortion was illegal altogether everywhere. But in the 1960s, abortion was then taken an idea to women, and they wanted that choice again. Resulting in it being legal once again.

But is it really a choice? While I get that some need it for medical reasons, does that really make it right? If your mother decided to abort you, you wouldn't be reading this right now, you wouldn't be able to do anything, for you wouldn't be alive. I believe that abortion is murder. If someone kills a pregnant woman, then they are charged for manslaughter 2 times, shouldn't it be the same for an abortion? Also, there is always Adoption, if you don't want your child, it was your choice to make them and it can be your choice to put them in for adoption for someone who will love them will take them.

Do you think Abortion is Murder? Why or Why not?

Do you think that Abortion should be legal? Why or Why not

  • Really well done Sabre!!

  • In my opinion I think abortion is murder. Therefore, I also think it should be illegal to the general public unless you have a reason such as you were raped and didn't want the child to begin with. But if that is not the case then you should have to suffer the consequences of your actions.

  • I think that its reasonable that abortion should only be an option If the pregnancy came from rape or incest because in most of those cases, the person didn't want to have a child mostly because they probably weren't ready to take care of a child.

  • In my personal opinion abortion should not be readily available to the general public in normal situations. I fully understand the want and sometimes need to have an abortion if there was incest or a rape involved, but if two people consensually have intercourse then they should have to take full responsibility of the consequences. Taking the life of an unborn baby should not be an option when a person makes a bad decision.

  • I think abortion is murder because the baby is going to grow up, and you are taking their future life away. I think that it should be illegal because of how wrong it is. However, some families aren't ready for the baby, but there are programs to help people in this situation.

  • I think that it should be the womens choice but also the same time it wasnt the babies faoult that all of that happened. If it was insest or rape then i understand why you would but, I wouldn't kill a baby for the mistakes you made. I am very in between about this whole thing because I see both sides of every story.

    • Thank you for saying both sides of your story, and I understand how you can be very, how do I say, two-sided? Most people are, I agree with you when you say that it wasn't the baby's fault for what happened, because it wasn't. I feel that most people tend to not think that it was their fault.

  • I think that woman should be able to have that choice to do what they want with their bodies I don't think abortion is murder because when woman get abortions they dont have a heartbeat. Abortion should be legal because when it is illegal woman are still going to try and get one no matter how they do it. This can result in destroying their bodies and even killing them.

    • While I understand what you are saying, I have a question. But let me explain first. When a woman is pregnant, she had the choice to have intercourse correct? Then I believe, with them knowing the consequences, that they should make that decision for their now child. If that child was 6-7 years old, you wouldn't be thinking about killing them. Is it any different with them being inside of your body? Most women, find out that they are pregnant between weeks 4-7. The heartbeat starts as early as 3-4 weeks. So While I understand your thinking, I am still going to disagree.

  • I believe that women should have the choice to choose what they do with their bodies. The argument betweeen pro-choicers and pro-lifers seems to be whether the mother or fetuses life is more important. I believe that if the woman feels the need to be rid of a fetus, they should have every right to do so.
