Iran's government has been attempting to discourage dog ownership since the early 2000's. Dogs are perceived as "unclean" and "impure" and Iranian citizens are becoming overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. According to Islam, being a dog owner is equivalent to being a bad/expelled monarchy. Iran officials also diminish the image of the dog by telling citizens that they spread diseases. Police action is being taken to enforce the ban of walking dogs in public and driving them around in cars. Dog owners will be taken in for questioning for violating the dog laws. Punishments include small fines for owning a dog and lashes/flogging if they are caught walking their pet in public.

What is your opinion on banning dog ownership?
I think that banning dog ownership is unreasonable. Dogs are more than a piece of work and the Iran government doesn't understand that. I think that punishing people for owning a dog is also ridiculous and unfair.
Are the punishments for violating the dog laws too severe? Explain.
I think that small fines are okay. Those aren't that big of a deal. However, lashes and flogging is way over the top. People should not be physically harmed for walking their dogs in public. It is too severe of a punishment and it is unheard of.

Well done Brecken!
1. I honestly think it is a dumb idea because dogs usually don't harm anyone and there is nothing wrong with them. I think that if you have a dog and get punished, I don't think that is right.
2. I think that like huge fines and maybe even jail time is the most pointless thing. I think that like you said just a small fine is good enough.
I agree that punishing a dog would be way worse than punishing its owner. The dog wouldn't have any idea what was going on. I think it is interesting how you said that huge fines and jail time would be pointless. I agree that punishing people for owning a dog is uncommon and kind of ridiculous, especially if the dog isn't harming anything.
I think that banning dog ownership is very out-there and harmful to those who need dogs to be service animals or for protection. I think that it's too severe to hurt anyone based on these offenses, but I agree that the small fines are more reasonable.
I think that harmful is a good way to look at the situation. Some people need dogs for medical puposes and they are essential for their well-being. I agree that physically harming someone based on these "offenses" is less reasonable that charging someone with a small fine.
I think that its a dumb law because dogs are the best thing in the world, and its the opposite of dogs making people "overwhelmed with fear and anxiety" because dogs actually make you more happy and less depressed. So I dont know why they're saying that, dogs also make you more healthy because you have to walk them and take them outside, so you're more active and happy. And the punishments are a bit too much also, if you wanna walk your dog, you should be able to witthout the fear of fines and lashes.
I agree when you say that dogs are good for people. They are therapeutic and help people stay active. I think the Iranian government is close-minded on this topic. They don't understand how beneficial owning a dog can be. I also agree that the punishments are too much.
