I-pods in class

Should I-pods be allowed in the classroom? Believe it or not there are people who can actually focus better while listening to music. But it can also be distracting to others i guess. What do you guys think?

  • I think that if you can listen and your grades show you can listen even with your ipod then you should be able to but must people cant especially during lectures.
  • i think they help. at least they help me.
  • I think that if its just a day where your researching and stuff its okay. But, if the teacher is talking or your doing a class activity then they shouldn't be allowed. So it should be the teachers choice.
  • I think we should be able to. I GUARENTEE, me, a talkative student, would be more quiet if i was distracted by music
  • Study hall is fine of course. I think that if the teacher is teaching then it is just out of the question, but during like work time and such I think they are fine. If the student is being too distracted by it and getting nothing done then that is their problem. We should be mature enough to know if we can handle having music and getting our work done at the same time or not.
  • I think as long as you are paying attention it should be fine but i dont think it should be allowed on test day
  • It can be a distraction.
  • I think if you have a b or higher maybe you should be able to listen to them while working on a worksheet or something but if you have a grade lower then that you should probably be talking to the teacher and asking her for help.
  • I know it helps me focus when I read. We had a sub in english one day and they wouldn't let us listen to ipods and I only read two pages the whole class. I don't think you should be listen to them when the teacher's talking, but when you're giving work time or free reading I don't see why not. As long as it's not blasting loud so that people across the room can hear it, cause that's bad for your ears to and it's ridiculous to have it that loud.
  • I think that if you have an A or B, and the teachers isn't talking, like it's a work day, then it's fine. Personally, I focus better on some things without music and some things better with music. So aslong as no one else can hear your music I think it's fine.
