After inmates set fire inside of three of the prisons ten housing units, the officers have regained control of the prison. Inmates in the Willacy County Correctional Center in Raymondville, Texas, had complained of their medical concerns often being ignored by staff. The correctional center also has unsanitary living conditions and overcrowding. The fires caused extensive damage to the plumbing system as well the heating and cooling systems. Prisoners, many of them which are "low key" prisoners, are being transported to other federal facilities. I think that the reason the inmates started the fires were to prove a point to the officers that they do not deserve to be treated like that.

i agree with you there trying to prove a point but they are in prison. I would try and put out the fire and make sure who did it was punished.
I would just try to make sure that they didn't escape.

I agree with you on why they started the fire. The prisoners need to realize that they're in prison for a (bad) reason, and don't entirely deserve to be treated all that great.
If I were an officer there, I'd probably be scared about that sort of situation.

They probably started the fire to get attention. They probably had a lot bigger idea going on in their mind than just starting a fire. I would immediately call a jail lock. Have the prisoners get down onto the floor and put their hands on their head until the situation was under control.

They started the fires because they felt they weren't being treated right and no one is going to listen to them because in prison their word means nothing. If I was an officer on duty I would try to put the fires out then figure out why they were started and who started them.
