Inflation

As we come out of Covid, our economy is struggling to get cought up. People are begining to get out and go back to eating out and shopping in stores with the money they have saved up, manufactures can't keep up with demand.

With people not wanting to work or deciding they don't have to and are just relying on the government for money is a leading cause for inflation in the U.S. With unemployment checks being given out, people are using that as their income as apose to working. The reason this can cause inflation  is because without people working in factorys, at ports and docks, and in resturaunts it makes it hard for companys to keep up. Without people working at ports and docks there is not enough people to unload boats, not enough truck drivers to move these goods.

The issue of people not working leads into another issue, manifactureing. Manufacturing companys can't get what they need to build the goods they need for sales. Due to people not working at docks, they can't load semis with goods and when there is enough people to unload ships, there isn't enough if any semis to load.  This has cuased prices of almost everything to rise. With this, people who are at work could potentialy will demand a raise. With people getting this raise, prices of things will still rise and people will demand another raise.

There things that can be done to combat this. If the government would stop giving out unemployment, it would force people to go back to work, which would assist with stopping the problem of not being able to get goods off ships, people to drive semis, and manufatures would be able to get what they need to make products which would cause prices to go back down and help to stop inflation.

I personally think this could be stopped if the government would stop giving out unemployment. This would get people to stop being lazy and get their jobs back.

Do you think inflation is a big issue?

Do you think the government should stop giving out unemployment checks?

  • I think that the government should stop giving out unemployment checks to everyone who could get a job. Obviously people who can't work for medical reasons then they should keep reciving them. The people who just sit around because they know they are getting goverment money are the people who checks should stop being given to.

    • I agree with that. These people who are abusing it are one of the main causes of inflation. If people get back to work, inflation will get better faster.

  • I don't think the government should stop giving out unemployment checks, because there are a lot of people who really rely on them because they've been put out of a job, especially because lots of people lost their jobs due to covid. Inflation is a big issue, but like you said there are a lot of ways to combat it, not just by completing quitting unemployment benefits.

    • I didn't say quit giving out unemployment completely. Like if someone who physicaly can't work should be allowed to have the benifits but if you are completely capable of work then you should work.

  • In my opinion I believe infaltion is something big. There is many people who struggle with a lot of things. The government shouldn't stop paying people. I think the government make it harder for people to get  money.

    • Yes I should have worded my post better. The work force is in need of people, and there are alot of people who can work but are to lazy to work and don't think they need to work. If you are totally able to work then you shouldn't be able to get unemployment.

  • I think inflation is a huge deal, especially to the lower class. Many people already struggle to buy needs on a daily basis, and with inflation rising it is becoming even harder for a handful of people to get the bare necessities for their household. I don't think the government should completely stop unemployment checks, but become stricter on the requirements.

    • I agree with making the requiremets stricter. The main problem is people who are completly capable of working, but are abusing unenployment benifits.  If they a person is capable of working they should get a job and stop relying on the government.
