After a long and crazy election cycle spanning almost 2 years, everything will finally settle down this Wednesday on Inauguration Day. But will it really? I'm sure this a question most people are asking. Since the event that took place at the U.S. Capital (2 weeks ago from this Wednesday), their is uncertainty as to what will happen in the next few weeks.
To start, more than 20,000 National Gaurd troops are in D.C. and the Capital currently. That is more troops than are overseas right now. For a Western civilized nation, this doesn't look very good to both foreign allies and enemies. The Secret Service is preparing for unrest and protests in the city as well. Major bridges into D.C. will be closed too.
Instead of a parade to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the new President will be escorted with representatives from each military branch for one block. For people watching at home, the inaugural committee has planned several "marches accross America" to pay homage to the frontline workers of our country. At 5:30 on Tuesday evening, there will be a lighting ceremony held around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to honor those who died fighting the pandemic.
For the first time in several years, the sitting President will not be in attendence of the inauguration. President Trump will be at his home in Florida, after hosting his own "going away party". Mr. Biden made it clear however that Vice President Mike Pence is invited to attend. Pence also said that he would be in attendence.
This Inauguration will hopefully be the culmination of what has been a rocky 4 years, and a long 2020.
Do you think that this Inauguration will be much different in terms of what is happening in our nation and around the world currently?
Is there a possibilty that protestors could stop or shorten the Inauguration?
Will there be pushback on a ceremony like this or will there be mostly agreement from both sides now?

Well done Eric!
I do think the Inauguration was different compared to past terms. Our nation and the whole world seems to be an uncontrollable mess. It's insane that we had more troops at the capital than we do overseas currently. I understand that people may be upset, but often there is nothing you can do, meaning you just have to leave it be, but be ready for when you can. In the past, people seemed to have understood that. I'm sure there were many elections that were very close as this one was, and yet we seem to have more security than ever before at an Inauguration.
I think that all this security and overprecaution is simply reminiscent of the left's goal, which seems to be to cause fear. From climate change, in which they make claims like the world ending in 10 years, to Covid, where they claim that a virus less deadly than the flu is going to end society as we know it. It seems to me that their method of holding power is completely rooted in fear.
I don't think the Inauguration will be much different except that people will be wearing masks and will be most likely socially distanced. I don't think there will be much protests. I would think that they understand the election is over and that Biden is president.
I also agree, after the inauguration everyone should realize that the election is over. The results will have been finalized with this inauguration. I also agree, that with a Democratic president we likely will see people social distanced and wearing masks. This is one of Biden's trademark policies as he takes over. But I agree that there likely won't be many protests.
Even though it is after the inauguration, I am happy to say it went smoothly. I haven't watched too close but if something did happen I definitely would've known about it. Good thing the bridges were blocked off or otherwise I'm sure there would've been many protesters.
I agree. I'd say it was a pretty smart decision for them to close the bridges and major entrances into the city. This likely helped them with crowd control also. It all sounds like it went well, and hopefully that is a sign as to what our nations future it too look like. I do agree that it went smoothly.
I think this inauguration will be very different because of covid. There will be less people in attendence, and many other things will be affected. I doubt any protestors would be able to stop an inauguration. I know that many people are upset, and I understand, but I don't think there will be any interuptions that involve protestors. There's always going to be people who don't like the president, so of course there will be people pushing back, but most have accepted it by now even if Biden doesn't do the right things.
I agree. I think that with the amount of security at the Capital and around D.C. in general should deter any protests. This Inauguration is such a well-known event in our country that it is unlikely that anything bad could happen. In the end, even though things are different this year we should still strive to move forward.
I think the inauguration will be different this year because of the crazy events caused by each political party. I'm not sure that protestors can really control the aspects of the inauguration because there will be national guard members attending the inauguration. There's no way to know for sure but I really don't think protestors will be able to do anything at this point.
