Authorities arrest 57 year old, Girard Saenz, for illegal firearm possession. After a neighborhood complaint, it drew the attention of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, later getting a warrant to search the house. Police ended up finding 1,200 firearms, including .50 BMG rifles (illegal in California), 7 tons of ammunition, and $230,000 dollars in cash. It took 30 law enforcement personnel 15 hours to clear the house. Weapon manufacturing tools were also found inside. Authorities have not found any evidence linking Saenz to terrorism.
Why and how do you think Saenz managed to get so many guns?
Saenz was probably a hoarder and maybe had mental issues as well. Because there were so many, I'd assume the majority of them were probably stolen.
What do you think caused the complaint in the first place?
If Saenz had so many guns, he most likely had other junk as well. The complaint could have regarded obstruction problems in the neighborhood.

I think that he must have just liked guns or been a type of collector because he didn't do anything with them. He may have shot the gun somewhere where the neighbors did like it or he may have been a hoarder.
Although they were illegal, the way it sounds he had not harmed anyone and was probably just a collector or enthusiast. California is a very liberal state and has very strict gun regulations. I'm not sure what caused the complaint, maybe he was being loud and it led to this.
he probalby got a complaint becuase he was just living the American dream, shooting guns all day, and someone was just feeling like a meanie and called him in for having some fun with his toys.
i don't blame the man for having so many guns. this is America. what is America without guns. we should be able to own and shoot our guns in safety without anyone calling the cops and getting them taken away.
I think he probably stole some, had some imported, and bought a lot of guns although I'm not sure why if he was not a part of a terrorist group because that whole situation does seem very sketchy. Maybe the neighbors saw weird things through the window or witnessed him with lots of guns being brought into his house many times.
I think he had an obseession with guns so he went out and bought all of these guns to make him feel better. He couold have been firing them off in a backyard, or the neighbors had noticed something off about him and it made them think something bad could have been going one.
I think that if he was a hoarder and a what you would call "sketchy" guy, people just felt threatened by him and wanted to make sure that he was not doing, or keeping, anything illegal,
I think that over time he just got lots of things and just kept them all. I also agree that most of them are probably stolen because that would be a lot of money that would have been spent.
Guns my just have been his hobby, just like some people are into cars and others are into shopping. I doubt they are stolen, because it would have been very difficult to steal that many guns. He probably did spend a lot of money on them, however.
