How Fast Can Humans Run?

Most people know that Jamaican runner Usain Bolt is the fastest man to ever live, but do you know how fast he can actually run? Bolt ran 330 feet in 9.58 seconds. That is 23.4 miles per hour throughout that course of the race. For a small part of the race he was clocked in running at 27 miles per hour. People often ask how to become a better sprinter. What makes someone a good sprinter is someone who can use less energy and achieve the same result during a race. It also depends how your genetics are, some people are just destined to be good runners. Most of the fastest runners are young men. We may think that 20+ miles per hour is fast, but in reality it really isn't. If you take a look at the animal kingdom we are not even close to as fast as a lot of animals. For example the cheetah is the fastest in the animal kingdom, and they can run at speeds up to 70 miles per hour. Some experts think that someday a human will be able to run somewhere between 35-40 miles per hour, but that is just an estimation. Only time will tell whether or not this can be achieved.

Questions:

How fast do you think you can run? Are you naturally a good runner?

Do you think that someone will be able to runner over 30 mph someday?

My Answers

I am not really sure how fast I am able to run because I am more of a long distance runner. I think I'm a pretty good runner naturally.

I think that someday someone will be able to because humans keep evolving and getting stronger and faster.

    • Well I don't think that Dalton was being very stereotypical. I think that more or so the world's fastest runner just happens to be black. I don't think that the article was being sterotypical even a little bit. I also think that humans will top off at about 30 mph and probably not higher than that. It just seems unthinkable

  • I don't reall care to much on how fast I can run and or never really thought about how fast I could actually run. But I would say like maybe a little over average teen speed, im a good short distance runner.

Oh yes, I think someday someone will beable to run over 30 mps by tarining hard and determination to do it and also the fact that humans evolving like you said in your answer.

    • I think that you are right. I think that if someone has the right training they will definitely be able to run over 30 miles per hour. I think that someone will be able to break Usain's record here shortly.

  • i would say i can run about 60 miles per hour and i am not a naturelly good runner because i bet i could get faster yes because i dont really think there is a limit because i can alreday run over 30 miles per hour but i think tey could because you can hve no body whieght and get max velocity

  • I'd say if i really tried I could do maybe 8 Miles per hour. I think that in the future there willl be someone that can run that fast bbut i think that it will take quite a while to if i had to guess I would say it would be within the next 100 years.

    • I think that you can most definitely run over 8 miles per hour. If you sprinted as fast as you could you would definitely be faster than 8 miles per hour. I think that the record could be broken here shortly honestly.

  • i think im pretty fast but not as fast as most and im a pretty good runner and i like shorter distances but i can run a 400 to 800 if needed i think because humans evolve all the time that there will be someone that will run over 30mph but in a while

    • I agree with you there. I am also a pretty good runner naturally. I think that the record will eventually will be broken, and I think that it will be broken shortly because there are a lot of people who are fast out there.

  • I'm not sure how fast I can run, but both of my parents and mostly all of my aunts and uncles were in track, so I guess I'd have to be at least some what of a good runner just because of my genes. And yes, I believe that someday someone will be able to train themselves hard enough to pursue a running speed of 30 mph.

    • I agree I think that the record will be broken eventually, but the question is when will it be broken? I think that the record will be broken here shortly becaue there are a lot of fast people around that we probably don't even know about.
