How Emojis Can Help People With Food Allergies

As most people know, emojis are the little faces, food, etc. that people can send through texts and more. Now they may be able to not just make people smile, but save their life. One man, named Hiroyuki Komatsu, a Google engineer, proposed to add a bunch of new random emoji icons into the emoji library to help those around the world know what they are eating in case they're allergic. He said that because emojis are universal, a wheat emoji on food would help gluten free people know they can't eat it, or a glass of milk on somethinig would let dairy free people know not to eat it.

What effect do you think having emojis on food labels will have?

I think having emojis on food labels is a great idea because the emojis mean the same thing worldwide, so I think it will have a positive effect.

How would emojis on food labels effect you?

I am not allergic to anything so it won't effect me too much although I know of a few people who would appreciate it. It would be impossible to know what ingredients are in something when you are traveling in another country because you won't be able to read the food label, so I think emojis would come in handy.

  • I think that would be a good idea because everyone would know what the emoji meant on the food product. I'm not allergic to anything so it wouldn't affect me but I know some people that are gluten free and allergic to some things.

  • I think it would be good, especially for young people, to have emojis on food labels. Kids may not understand what the writing says, but if they see something like a wheat or milk emoji they will know to stay away. This wouldn't have much of an effect on me, since the only thing I am allergic to is cashews and those are not in many foods.

  • I think it's great for people with severe allergies because sometimes restaurants say something is allergen free but it really isn't. It doesn't really effect me at all because I don't have any severe allergies but it would be good for people that do.

  • it would not have much of an effect on me becuase im nor allergic to an food but if i am somewhere else in the world and i cant read the ingredients id still like to be able to know whats in the food, so emojies would help.

  • i think its a good idea becuase it can help people world wide and make thin gs go smoother and have a god effect on thsoe with food allergies.

  • It will have a great impact because if a younger kid had an allergy to something then he could look at that emoji and know that he/she couldn't have that spific food. This wouldn't effect me because i'm not allergic to anything but I know many people who this will help them know if they can have this or not.

  • I think it might help out some people because it will catch their attention better than just the words on the label. I'm not allergic to anything that I know of so I don't think it would have any affect on me but I think it will help other people.

  • I think this idea could have good effects and make it easier for people with food allergies, especially on labels that are vague and don't say much. I think it'd be hard for this to have any bad effects, besides making companies have to adopt it on all of their labels. It wouldn't affect me at all because I don't have any food allergies.

  • I think that it would be a smart idea, especially in the fact that it could save lives. Many people struggle when traveling knowing what it is they are actually eating so this could be a good step to help prvent to allergic reactions. I also don't have any food alergies so it wouldn't directly affect me.

  • I think it will have a major positive effect because more people would understand what is in the food and it will bring more warning to the people eating the food. It wouldn't have any effect on me because I am not allergic to anything, so the labels would do nothing for me.
