So I helped move my daughter, Lexie, back to Buena Vista University on August 18 after much deliberation on her part on whether to go back or take classes from home online. She changed her mind at least five different times including on the day we were moving her in. Of course, going back to college means seeing and interacting with people from all over the state, country and world. It means scenes like this:
Iowa State actually tested all the students when they moved in and here were the results:
Not too bad, but other colleges like North Carolina, Notre Dame and Michigan State sent their students home after virus outbreaks amongst students within days or weeks of getting there. Hundreds of other colleges have opted to go online only for all students. I can of course, respect colleges that go completely online for at least this semester as colleges are quite different from high schools as they have students that come from all over the country and world. My issue is this-why are colleges having students come back to campus and then only offering one or two classes in person and the rest are online????!!!! What is the point of having students come back at all then? If you are that concerned, keep them home! Kids want to go back to college. College is fun. In person classes are generally better and harder to put off. So why put there safety in jeapordy if they aren't going to go full in-person. It's ridiculous and in my opinon, it's all about the $$$$$$$, which is sad.
So what are your thoughts about this? Do you think colleges should be all online, all in person or a combination? If you were a college student, what would you do and why?

I think it should be hybrid becuase people paid for the college and people need the head on education for it not to be face to face.I think it should be head to head beucase people can always wear mask thats how easy it is. If the college goes online most of the people wont do the work.
I think college should be all in person because, the parents paid for the students to go to class and learn not to sit at home or in their doom probably skipping out on their education. Also if the masks work they wouldn't have to worry about getting the Corona virus right?
I think that colleges should be all online. The living expencise would be down if they stay home, I think that colleges favor the money, but i do also think they kind of care because my sisters college is half online and half in person, they are also keeping the same seet the whole semester.
I don't think students should be going back to campus if a majority of their classes are online. Living there is very expensive and it is a lot easier to move online for the students because they can stay home and quarantine with their family and not be exposed on campus. Although it will be harder for colleges to go online it is what we need to do to stay safe.
I think its really bad for students to go back and only do a couple of classes becuase there would be no point, I dont think there is any reason to do and 1 or 2 classes and the rest online. If I was a college student I would try to do online courses becuase there is a big risk for covid 19 but if I had to go do a class in person I would be pretty mad becuase it would not even be worth to go to it and then go rush home and do online courses.
I feel like college shouldnt go back unless its a hands on class like diesel mechanics or something else like that. if they go full online they shouldnt have to pay the full price and only have to pay for there classes. there would be a huge chance of having covid because college campuses are huge and it would make the risk very high.
I believe that colleges should go 100% online at a reduced price so that students are only paying for their classes and not living expenses because more people will continue to go, it is safer for students and teachers, and less cleaning would be required in the school. The classes should be able to be taken from home so that students can comfortably take their classes and do their assignments without worrying about Covid. Many students have considered dropping out of college in order to protect themselves and their families along with saving money. College is extremely expensive here in the United States and many students just don't feel that it's worth going to college to take only a few classes in person and continue to pay full living expense price. Finally, the school wouldn't need as much cleaning done in the classrooms, hallways, etc. since only the teachers and certain staff would be there saving both the school money for cleaning supplies and new equipment.
I don't think its a good idea to go back to college. They should either go full time in person or full time online. If they would decide to go online it should also be cheaper because you are not actually there in person. If I were in college I would rather go full time in person but if I had to I would rather go full online rather than half and half.
I feel like college classes should all be online because colleges have a lot of students and with a lot of people there would be a bigger spread of COVID-19. If I was a college student I would probably do online because it would just be easier to open my laptop instead of trying to get to class while maintaining social distancing and online is easier because you get more time to study inbetween classes instead of taking up most of the time trying to rush to the next class.
