In Ohio a man gave up one of his kidneys for his sister, Sarah, who suffered from renal disease. During the man's surgery a year ago the kidney was placed in a "slush machine" before it was to go to his sister who was preparing for surgery. Before that could happen though a nurse mistakenly threw out the kidney thinking that it had already been delivered to the sister's room. The kidney was later found but could not be used after it had been thrown out because it had been exposed to medical waste. Sarah eventually found another donor but the kidney she received is not as good as a match and is of poorer quality when compared to her brother's kidney which was thrown out. Because the kidney isn't a perfect match, Sarah's body has a greater chance of rejecting it eventually.
Sarah and her family are seeking at least 25,000 from the hospital. But the Attorney General is saying the family cannot make such a claim. The hospital expresses its sincere apologies but at the moment, Sarah and her family will not be receiving any money from the hospital for the incident. Do you think that the Hospital should give the family more than just an apology for the incident?... Should the now retired nurse face any punishment for her actions?...

I mean everyone makes mistakes but the nurse should have made sure that this kidney was no longer good instead of just throwing it, but there should be no punishment for the nurse. Besides everybody makes mistakes. But then again I think the hospital should pay the family because the girl, Sara's life was at risk.
I think the hospital should give more than an apology, since the brother had to do a pretty much pointless surgery because the sister didn't even get his kidney. Now the sister has to settle for a poorer kidney.
I agree that the hospital should fork over the money... the brothers surgery was in vain and pointless because of the hospitals actions and he deserves compensation for his troubles.
I think that the hospital should pay the family something, and as far as the nurse go she didn't mean to do it. I don't think she should get punished for anything
I think the hospital should give them more than an apology. I mean, they threw out Paul Jr's liver and messed up Sarah's surgery. The nurse shouldn't be punished, at least not a lot. I mean, she is retired now. But as the story goes, it was an accident. I think the nurse should have checked though.
She shouldn't be punished because it was a mistake and everyone makes them. I do think, however, that the hospital should pay way more than $25,000 for that mistake. That mistake endangered the life of his sister.
I don't think the nurse should be punished. She was just taking precautions. It was the hospital's fault for not putting the organ in a better place. They should pay the family for their mistake.
I think the family should receive money because they screwed up and threw it away. But it was an accident so I am not for sure what they should do.
I think that they should receive money and not have to pay for any of the problems that may happen with having this new kidney. I think the nurse shouldn't be punished but I cant believe this could happen they should of been way more careful.
I agree that the nurse shouldn't be punished, but she should have double checked to make sure the kidney was delivered to the patients room before throwing away it away.
