Jemel Roberson was a security guard working extra shifts to buy gifts for his family. Jamel had a pregnant wife and a 9-month baby boy. During Jamel's shift last weekend, a gunman started to shoot up Manny's Blue Room, which is a Bar in Chicago. Jamel stepped in and pinned the shooter to the ground. Soon after an officer came into the bar and shot and killed Jamel. Whitnesses say he was wearing clothes that identified him as a seccurity guard, but the officer says he was wearing "plain black clothing with no marking readily identifying him as a Security Guard." Whitnesses say that you good tell Jamel was the "good guy with a gun".
Do you think the officer who killed Jemel should have consequences?
How do you think places like this can prevent shootings from happening?

Well done overall but you didn't include your personal thoughts within your summary whic is worth 6 points.
The officer should be suspended and probably charged with murder. In this case, they shouldn't let the kind of person who shoots for no reason be a police officer. But because most times when shootings occur it is with people that shouldn't have guns, the answer is GUN CONTROL.
Yes because he wasnt even and actually guard and he shouldnt just go in and start shooting
Make stronger gun laws and need more identity for buying guns to stop bad people from using them
Yes, I think that the officer who killed Jemel Roberson should have consequences. If multiple witnesses say that there was no reason that the officer should've mistaken Jemel for the bad guy, then I think that action should be taken against him. He killed an innocent man who was wearing clothes that identified him as a security guard, according to witnesses.
I am not sure whether or not the Officer deserves anything from this maybe desk duty but thats about it and thats it because when the Guard is wearing clothes that dont identify whether you are a good guy or a bad guy. I think that it would be very difficult to stop things like this because they are so unpredictable because of the rarity and having to stop every person to see if they have a weapon and then see if they have a concealed weapons permit.
I don't think he should, sure it was a sucky sitution, but he probably ran in, knowing that there was an acitve shooter, saw a guy rolling on the ground with a gun and shot, I would have done the same thing, with that being said it is a really sad situation, and I am willing to bet that the officer feels terrible for his mistake.
I think that better security at entrances could be helpful, such as metal detectors.
I think that the officer who killed Jemel should have consequences for what he did. Even if it was an accident he still killed someone and I think that he should be fired. They could probably do something to improve their security.
I also think he should have some consequences for it. He did kill a man. I also think that updating or improving their security with checks or a senser could help prevent things like this from happening again.
I mean the security at the bar was meant for a form of protection against people from coming in so Jemel did his job in that aspect but was shot by a cop instead of the shooter him or herself which is sadly ironic. I hope the police can be more careful with guns.
I definitely think that the officer who shot Jemel should have consequences because Jemel was shot without reasoning and/or cause. The majority of bouncers have something on their clothing that says they are security so I don't understand why they "didn't see it".
