At Florida A&M University, it isn't unusual to hear about hazing of band members. This time it went to far. Back in November a drum major was hazed by being beaten to death by fists with results of head trauma and death. Yesterday, May 2, eleven of the thirteen involved were accused of third-degree felony for "hazing with death" with a maximum of 6 years. The two others were charged with misdemeanor charges.
You hear different hazing stories and how cruel and unusual they are. This type of hazing sounds like a gang initiation of some sort. What really shocked me was that these people were band members. I couldn't imagine anyone in our band trying to do something like this.

I saw this on the news. It's too bad, but hazing like this happens everyday.
This is so ridiculous! What's the point of hazing?
That's horrible, the hazing I usually hear about is alot less brutal than beating them to death.
band members should stick together i thought but what drives people to be so cruel to their friends or other people i fell sorry for all the families because they have to live with the shame of their kids or loss.
That's is crazy. I can't believe hazing caused someone to die. I hope everyone that was involved in the hazing incident gets what they deserve. I know there is hazing at our school, but it isn't to a degree even close to this. I hope hazing like this never happens again.
I can't imagine band members or anyone for that matter taking something that was supposed to be fun to that extreme. I think people should really take a step back and think about hazing and decide what is fun and what is just plain cruel.
There is a lot of violence and crime in our world today and it doesn't surprise me that the guy died. It is horrible how all those people ganged up on one person. He wouldn't have stood a chance. I don't see why there are so many gangs in our country..especially in bigger cities.
This is terrible!
I am glad that those guys got 6 years in jail!
Well I hope these guys are put away for a while. They should've known the consequences and what they were capable of doing. Bad decision on their part.
That's terrible! I don't understand why hazing is such a "cool" thing to do to underclassmen on college campuses. It's not cool. It's really mean and dangerous.
