Hazardous Banana Peels

Apparently Japanese scientists have in fact proven than banana peels can be slippery enough to be hazardous.  These scientists have discovered that from shoe soul to peel contact banana peels can decrease friction by one-fifth proving that in fact banana peels can be slippery. Believe it or not these are real scientists with real degrees doing real research. These scientists even one an award for there efforts at the annual Ig Noble Prizes. Other awards where given to very interesting studies such as how cured pork can stop a nose bleed and how the brain reacts when it sees the face of Jesus burned into a piece of toast.

Does this mean everyone should be more careful around banana peels or does it really matter?

  • Well done!

  • No, I don't think it really matters because people usually avoid objects on the ground instead of stepping on it.

    • clever thought

  • I'm pretty sure everyone should have enough common sense to not slip on a banana. And any ways the researchers are wasting their time doing something like this, they should be researching a cure for cancer or for another incurable diseases.

  • I think it is waste of time for them to research about bananas. Not everyone eats bananas, or leaves them on the ground, so no one needs to be that careful.

  • Not at all. Nobody would just drop a banana peel on the ground in public, and the first thing most people do with a banana peels is throw them away or put them someplace that somebody can't slip on it. This isn't a good study at all, I don't think that we need to know that because we see shows that when somebody slips on them, they fall down in a ridiculous way. I don't see why they need to have a study to find this instead of cures for diseases.

  • If this is what we're spending researchers, time, and money on rather than how to cure AIDS and end world hunger, humans are pathetic.

In response to your question, I don't think I'm going to get overly cautious the next time I see a banana peel on the ground. In fact, I really don't think it matters to anyone, unless you're Mario and drive a kart, then you might want to watch out or you're going to lose your next big race to Luigi.

  • It only matters if you have a lot of banana peels on your floor. This was a waste of scientists time who could've been doing something more productive, like saving lives, making vaccines, etc.

  • I think that it was probably one of the biggest waste of money that's been spent. Its cool, but why don't you just get some bananas eat them and then push people onto the peels and see what happens. You don't need to go into a lab and figure it all out. There is plenty of other things they could be doing to better the wold with their time.

  • no because not much people throw on the floor or outside
