Shortly after 8am on Saturday January 13th, There was an alert sent out to all mobile phones and televisions in Hawaii saying that there was a ballistic missile heading towards hawaii. With the rising tensions with North Korea everyone believed that it was real. It took 32 minutes for everyone to get to shelter. It took another 30 minutes for all emergency response personnel to discover and relay information of the false alert to the public. Panic and fear spread throughout the island like an epidemic. The governor found out that it was a false alarm within 2 minutes of it happening. The hawaii emergency management agency discovered that it was human error not a terrorist attack. The governor calls this totally unacceptable and that he was angry and disappointed. He says that he is working on improving the system. The only thing that protects this system is a login code and a couple keystrokes. the island is bringing back some cold war ballistic missile sensors and the government of hawaii is trying to update the equipment.

Questions:
Do you think that the current system is sufficient? Why or Why not?
No because there should be more precautions around the warning alarm. So at least two people have to activate the panel at the same time.
Was it ok for the governor to keep the information that he learned right after the alert went out? Why or why not? and What would you have done in that situation?
No, He should have sent out a message that it was a false alarm so that there would be less panic. I would have told everyone what had happened right after i learned what had happened.
