This past thursday the Kilauea volcano erupted, causing molten rock, ash, and sulfur dioxide into the air. A comunity of around 1,700 people in the Leilani Estates were evacuated. As of Sunday 10 fissures opened up and 26 homes have already been destroyed. The people living there have been experiencing these eruptions since 1983 because the volcano has been erupting almost continuously since then. Some of the residents in the estates were able to return breifly to retrive their pets, medicine, and vital documents. Civil defense said, sunday evening, that the residents would be able to check their properties between 7 am and 6 pm local time. The residents were told to be aware of the unstable conditions that involve toxic gas, earthquakes, and lava activities. There has been very high levels of toxic gas. Since Hawaii's false missile alert earlier in the year many people have been prepareing for terible situatuons since.
If you were forced from your home because of a natural desaster like this how would you feel? I personaly would be very scared for all my family and friends, also for my pets because everyone and everything would be in danger of being destroyed.
Do you think that these people were smart for living so close to an active volcano? Why or Why not?
I think that they were not very smart for living so close because they should have expected that one day there would be major eruptions and lots of damage so I think that they should have lived further away.

If i was forced from my home then i would make sure that my pets would be with me. No. Eventhough you get a beatiful view you must always think that a volcano is an active one because it you dont think anbout that then you could be losing a lot of money when those houses and its contents are destroyed. You would be the volcanos first victims.
1. I would feel sad since all my belongings and memories would have been burned by the eruption of the volcano.2. I really think that you have to be a bit silly to live next to a volcano that you know that at any moment will erupt and explode as it is obvious.
I would be really upset, but of course things like this happens and they can happen anywhere in the world. These people are not foolish for living by an active volcano. It is just like people living in tornado ally or by the ocean where hurricanes are common.
I do not think that they were smart to live close to a volcano. You never know when a volcano could erupt or if it will ever erupt and you still shouldn't chance it and live next to one.
I would be worried about what would happen next if I would eventually be able to go back to my home or if I would have to find somewhere else to live. I might upset with myself and regret chosing to live in that kind of area.
I would be scared and sad if I was evacuated from my home because of this, because volcanoes and other natural disasters can destroy so much, and I would be sad to see my house and my town get damaged. I think that these people probably should have realized that the volcano is active and that it might go off one day before they decided to live there.
I would be very scared, but I think that I would get over it. I wouldn't say it's unsmart because it is a beautiful island, and it is a nice place to leave. I think that they understand the risk of living there.
I would be very angry about the whole situation. No I dont think that they are very smart for living so close because they know that it could erupt at anytime.
I don't think that I would be angry because I knew the risk of living in that area. I think that it is there choice of where to live, and I think that it is a very beautiful place to live.
