Have you heard of an "E-scooter"?

What exactly is an "E-scooter"? Well it’s an electric scooter, and if you visit/live in bigger cities then you may just see these "E-scooters" all around. Lyft has just launched their electric scooters in Denver, Colorado, but many say that Uber isn’t far behind from launching there scooters too. If you’re in the city wanting to try these scooters out just simply log onto your lift app and find a scooter near you. If you’re looking for some way to get around the city, without breaking the bank, these scooters may be just for you. Don’t have any spare change? Don’t worry when paying for the scooters everything is handled through the app, the estimated cost for this service is around $1 to unlock, and then it just costs 15 cents per minute. So, if you’re looking for a way to get around easily in the city, these scooters may be just the thing for you.

More on these cool scooters!!

1.) If you were in the city using the Lyft app, would you stick to having someone drive you around or getting some air and renting a scooter, and why?

My Opinion: I think this would be cool to use in the city if it were just myself, but if I were with a big group of people then I would rent a car. These seem pretty cool; however, im very clumbsy and I guess I would have to try it out and see how I do.

2.) Do you think this will benefit or make traffic worse in larger cities?

My Opinion: I think this could benefit traffic because scooters arent as big as cars, but I do have some worries that drivers of cars wont watch out for them very much as they do other cars. With safety features on cars I hope they will be able to detect the scooters.

  • Well don Alana!

  • I agree with you here alana, if I were by myslef, I would probably rent the scooter, however if I was in a group, I would call a lyft. I think that this will help traffic in the cities, as it will be a smaller, vehicular object you can use to get around faster and would reduce traffic.

  • I would rent this scooter around the city I think its a cool idea and also would be very fun to use and plus it seems very cheap. I think it will kinda go both ways for traffic. I think youll have to dodge some of them sometimes on the sidewalk but it will eliminate some people from driving around on the road.

  • If I was in a city and had to get around I would totally use these scooters, but it depends on the distance and time I have. I think this will benefit traffic, but not very much at first. I assume most people would rather have drive around in cars rather than on a scooter, but I could be wrong. It might not be completely safe though, considering some drivers aren't completely focused on the road.

    • I think these scooters are so cool! I hope they get so popular they bring them to downtown Omaha and we can get to ride them. I wonder how long these scooters take to charge? What happens if u get a dead scooter? Theres a lot of question that I hope can be anwsered in the next few months.

  • I think it depends on where you are going and if you can stand on a scooter for a certain amount of time. Well you would have to ride it on side walks and the sidewalks are already crowded and adding a machine that is faster than people and and takes up more space will make it worse.

  • If I was just traveling a short distance and the weather was good, I would definatly choose to use a scooter. I believe this is a great idea for tourist and for busy areas around the town. I think that they will have a good impact of traffic flow too because there are a lot less people on the roads. On the other hand, I think they could quite possibly be dangerous for new users, and for the people who are driving/riding in vehicles. Many people would are not used to watch for people on scooters, so more accidents are possible.

    • I think a lot of taking the scooter would depend on the weather. I think we would only have them in the summer if they were brought to Omaha. I think that these are cool, but where we live the climate changes so much that most people just buy cars because its easier.

  • I would choose a lyft for longer distances or at night, but I may choose to rent a scooter during the day, especially if I am planning on sight seeing or if I will be travelling short distances. I think that this will help traffic in large cities and also help the environment because less cars will be needed so less is put into the environment.

  • Choosing whether to have a driver or use a scooter, to me, would depend on how far I needed to go. For shorter ditances and depending on the weather, I would probably choose the scooter.I think this could benefit the traffic in larger cities, but also make it worse. It could help with not being as many people on the road, but crossign streets cars would have to wait longer for all the people and scooters. When on a scooter you would have to watch out for all the people walking on the sidewalks, if it is really busy, it might be easier to just go by car.
