Omer Kiyani was shot in the face as a teenager with an unsecured firearm. Now an engineer in Detroit he believes the device he has created would have saved him and can say thousands of others. This device is called the "identilock". It is a device that attaches to the trigger of a handgun, which can only be unlocked by a fingerprint scanner, preventing any unauthorized user for firing the weapon. The trigger is released by similar fingerprint sensors to the same ones used in Apple's iPhone 5s which are approved by the FBI. The gun is enabled in under a second from first contact, and engineers are chipping away to further reduce the time. Eventually, it is hoped the lock will be integrated and the release will be instant. Kiyani expects to launch his smart gun technology in U.S. stores within a year, retailing for around $300.
I think that this is a wonderful idea and I hope they are able to make it so it will unlock instantly. I believe that it will help lessen the amount of guns stolen and sold to members of gangs.

i think that would be a good idea caz then there weill be less shootings and it will probaly save lives
I think that this is a great idea so people can't use guns that aren't theirs, to some extent at least. Im sure this idea will develop into something great in the future.
I think it will make the rate of people murdered lower. It may help save children and adults.
I agree that it will help save children especially if they get their hands on one of their parents guns!
If you want the murdered rate lower the government will need to actually crack down on gangs.

Actually this wont affect the gun violence rate because this only targets the law abiding gun owners. Criminal will still have guns that can be used by anybody. This will most likely just increase guns coming into the country through the border.
