Groomers and Child predators on TikTok

Amongst the election, several creators have based their content on politics and political beliefs, just the other day I was scrolling on my for you page and stumbled across a tik tok saying, If Biden wins I will post a video of me (explicit video). Obviously this person was joking as they were hopefull biden would win, even though they reside in the united kingdom. I was obviously quite a few weeks late to when this creator decided to post this video, but the comments under that video were disgusting. This creator is very obviously a minor yet there are girls ranging from 18-22+ in his comments pressuring and telling him to post the video they "promised them". Several people came to there defense saying that they were joking about the video and to stop pressuring them as they are in fact a minor and visibly uncomfortable. Eventually they sadly gave in to the pressure and posted the video on a different social media platform. After a while they deleted the video, feeling disgusted and upset because even though they didn't want to, they felt they owed all the people who saw their tik tok. They eventually went on to tiktok and begged any and everyone who had access to the video to delete it and take it off of anything they decided to put it on. Because of all the ADULT women who pressured them into posting and then keeping the video, they decided to take a break from tiktok. They are now back and posting their regular content but its still disgusting as I'm seeing those adult women still in their comments telling other people how to get to the video. In anger I decided to search up the video and reported any and everyone who had it posted, I did not watch or listen to the video. I hope this person is happy and healthy and can get past all the hate and pressure they got. What makes me even more upset over this whole situation is that THEY ended up apologizing to the people who sent hate and pressured them into posting the video, and everyone accepted their apology, as if they needed one in the first place! Thankfully some people were smart and kind enought to let this creator know that they were not in the wrong at all and shouldn't be apologizing for everyone else's actions.

Do you think that the creator was in the wrong for giving in to all the pressure?

Should tik tok step up it's monitering of predator and groomer behavior?

  • Interesting topi and you did a great job of including your voice and opinions within the summary. With that said, I would suggest breaking your paragraph up into shorter paragraphs to help organize it a bit better. You also only replied a few times to students.

  • I think that the creator should not have given into the pressure and posted the video beacuse it did more damage then it would if he just ignored the people. I think every website should have some sort of predator protection beacsue it happens everywhere.

  • Obviously, the creator was wrong for posting an inappropriate video as a minor, but pressure and pestering from others can be hard to not give in. He seems to have realized his mistake and definitely regrets it. TikTok should hammer down on predator behavior as there are a lot of young kids and minors that use the app.

  • I think that the creator should've thought more about it and realized it was a bad idea to post that. Most mature people know that to post something like that is wrong and could get you in a lot of trouble. Nobody should've pressured him into it because they should know the consequences too.

  • I think that it was a mistake for the creator to post that in the first place. The majority of our generation knows not to post things like that and knows the consequences of those actions. However, I think that people should not have pressured him into posting explicit content. However, he should not have posted it, and should have suspended his account if he was being harassed.

  • I also think that users should be more aware of what exactly they post on a daily basis. Publicly promising lewd content as a minor shouldn't even have to be a problem if everyone thought with their head on right.

  • I think Tik Tok should take more responsibilaty over things like this. If a person registered on the app is a minor, and does something or promises something explicit, the video should be taken down. Of course I wouldn't really know too much about Tik Tok, since I don't care for the format.

  • the creator did not post the expilicit video on tik tok, they posted it on twitter. they were pressured by 34.3 thousand people telling them to give what they promised, and saying they were wrong for giving into the pressure. thats a lot of pressure for a MINOR to deal with over a joke.

  • I think tiktok algorisms are a good and a bad thing for this. If the app thinks you like watching little kids dance it will show you more little kids dancing. I think tik tok should atleast label minors so that older people on the app know. Then if someone lies about their age its their fault and not the apps.

  • I absolutely think that TikTok should step up their monitoring of predator/grooming behavior. TikTok is an app where teens should feel comfortable expressing themselves and gaining followers. I personally don't use any form of social media in order to avoid predators and unwanted drama. I feel very bad for the person who got pressured into posting an explicit video.
