Goverment Surveillance on the Rise

After the David Petraeus scandal tells us how the goverment can easily access our private emails, and social networks. The IP adresses on our google drives, and Gmails are used to track us and the other person you are talking too. Google teamed up with the goverment in letting them be able to read our messages to one another. I kind of think it is and isn't a good idea, because what if we aren't doing anything wrong then the goverment shouldn't look through our personal stuff, but like the David Petraeus scandal they have every right because he works for the goverment, and he could have given the lady information that shouldn't have been out. What do you think about this?

  • I can't believe the government can look at anyone's messages anywhere. That is a invasion of everyone's privacy and they shouldn't be able to do that.

  • I do not think this is a very good idea. It seems like a pretty big invasion of privacy.

  • I don't think this is a good idea because its not really anyone's business on what you are talking about to other people..yeah maybe if they are trying to catch a bad person or something but to just randomly read peoples email? No thats going to far.

  • I think it is stupid that the government can read our emails. I can see why they would do it but they should do it for convicted felons.

  • I think that it's a good idea to be able to look threw it, incase you need to. I don't think they should be able to unless it's called upon. If it is though, i think it's a great idea. You can find out alot about a person by looking threw there personal convos.

  • This is crazy how they can do this! But i also think that it is also good because i'm sure you could stop many things if you track the person down before they do it.

  • I agree with you if they have no criminal record then they shouldn't look through our emails. Some things could be private and don't want everyone to know.

  • I don't think they should track people through their emails. If you send a letter, it shouldn't be read by the government, so why should an email? Privacy is one of the most important rights to me. Even though I'm not doing anything wrong, I would still rather not feel like I'm being watched. Besides, it violates the fourth amendment. I'm still OK with making sure government officials don't leak things, but regular law-abiding people with regular jobs don't need to be spied on.

  • i do not agree with this. the government doesnt need to be reading our emails. yes it would make sense if the person worked from the government otherwise no.

  • I think that they should investigate people through their email and things like that. I don't like it, but they need to do these things to make sure no one is up to anything bad. They may be able to stop some bad guys through this. As long as they don't overdo it, I'm okay with it.
