It's a smart idea to promote themselves in their neighborhood. And mostly everyone this day in age uses wifi. It's a nice community service gift more or less.
I think that its cool that they gave new york wifi. I mean there are so many people going there for vacation and everything and everyone would always enjoy free wifi. This part of new york however may get more populated because of all the people wanting to use there free wifi. I don't think that will be much of a huge problem because i know i wouldn't move there just because they have free internet.
It makes sense to do that to get people to use there network, but if they do that I am guessing that they will give free wifi to several big cities, and by doing that they will make people want to move into the big cities even more to get the free wifi which will just crowd our big cities even more and raise the risk of crashes and other ways of injuring people.
I believe that this is a great idea for people to be able to connect to the world around. It's hard to imagine life without wifi for most of us...but it's different for everyone.
Well it kind of makes sense since they are doing it in the neighborhood where their HQ is located. They are just giving back to the community.
