(CBS) If a picture is worth a thousand words, then the photos of the stars of the hot show glee are speaking volumes. The photos are causing quite a stir, and even moved one of the actors to issue an apology.
CBS News correspondent Preeti Arla reported the controversy continues over racy pictures of glee stars Dianna Agron and Lea Michele in the upcoming edition of GQ magazine. The photos and behind-the-scenes video show the 24-year-old actresses scantily clad and striking sexy poses, drawing condemnation from some critics because of the show's popularity with kids and teens.
Melissa Henson, director of communication of the Parents Television Council, told CBS News, "Essentially what they are doing is fetishizing high school girls."
On her blog Thursday, Agron responded to the controversy, writing: "If you are hurt or these photos make you uncomfortable, it was never our intention. And if your 8-year-old has a copy of our GQ cover in hand, again I am sorry. But I would have to ask, how on earth did it get there?"
Just who might get their hands on the magazine was a topic of debate on "The Talk."
Julie Chen said, "Maybe moms go to the grocery store with their 8-year-old, here in Los Angeles, and there's GQ on the cover and if an 8-year-old likes 'Glee,' she's gonna say..."
Sharon Osburne retorted, "She's not gonna buy a magazine that's for men. It's GQ."
GQ, which targets men in their 20s and 30s, is standing by the photo spread.
GQ Creative Director Jim Moore said, "I feel it's really not that far from what Glee really stands for which is a little bit of controversy. … And you know, this is not real life, this is fantasy."
