A 4-year old girl accidentally shoots her 4-year old cousin to death with a loaded rifle that she found under her grandfather's bed in Detroit home. The little girl was playing and watching tv when she comes across a small caliber rifle under her grandfather's bed. The girl was with her 4-year old cousin and his 5-year old sister. She picked up the rifle, pointed it at the boy and shot him once in the chest. The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. There was no adult home at the time with the kids. The police wanted to know how the 4-year old girl could maintain control of such a gun.
I think this story is outrageous, there are so many solutions out there to keep this from happening like not keeping the gun loaded or keeping the guns under lock or key or in a safe.

Well done but be sure to pose a question so the audience can answer it.
That is why guns should be hidden is harder places to find, and kids should be taught from a very young age that they should NEVER point a gun at anybody else.
I that the gun should not have been loaded or it should have been locked. There should never be a loaded out in a semi open area. This incident could have easily been avoided if the grandparents would have hid the rifle out the childs height.
This story is crazy! How could someone leave a gun in a stupid and no one was home with them makes it even worse.
I don't think the grandpa thought of this situation possible. I'm not trying to justify where the gun was at all. I believe it's the grandpas fault for having a gun in an unsafe place little kids can get to.
There should have been an adult to watch her. It needed to be locked up the girl was only 4 she didn't know anything about gun saftey
They should of known better than to have such young children home alone with a gun pretty much out in the open. I agree it's not that hard to put it under lock and key. I don't understand how the young girl could even shoot it.
That's crazy that a grandfather would keep a loaded rifle under his bed. He should know that his grandchildren play in his room. He should keep it locked up in a safe or secure. Even if he wanted to stay protected, he shouldn't have a loaded rifle where children can reach it.
I think the rifle shouldn't of been where any little kid could reach.. especially under a bed. It should of been locked up or put in a safer place unloaded.
That's why all guns should be kept in a safe without ammo in the gun. The Grandpa should feel very responsible.
