Ghosts of Candy Past

Halloween is coming up and that means we are all thinking of pranks and, of course, candy.  Halloween is my favorite holiday and it (along with the whole mislabeled foods from the progressive era) got me thinking about how much candy brands have changed so the following is a list of candy that really aren't as popular today.

Wax pop bottles- these are actually what they sound like wax bottles filled with sweet liquid candy

Chiclets- The most amazing little pieces of gum that you will ever find.  Its coated in a crunchy candy coating like m&ms but its gum.

Charms- these are really just square lifesavers but still pretty delicious.

Bazooka Bubble gum- chewing gum with comic strip wrappers and of course Bazooka Joe.

Chuckles- These are jelly candies in a variety of flavors that are coated in a light layer of sugar.  I don't think I have ever seen these before but they kind of sound good.

Candy lipstick( not the sweet tart type)- this was basically red sugar wrapped in gold paper that came in a plastic lipstick tube.

Candy Cigaretts- you can still find these at Dollar general but these are chalky white sugar sticks that are like cigarettes.

Abba Zabba bars- are toffee with a peanutbutter center.

Cherry Balls- these were really a cherry flavored ball of hard candy.

Flicks Chocolate- these were chocolate wafers that came in a tube about nickle size that came in a tube and were advertised by a creepy clown.

Honee drops- these were basically honey flavored hard candies that were filled with honey.  people used them as coughdrop and they tasted amazing!!!

Looks Candy bars-  these were the original snickers. they were noughat and nuts covered with creamy chocolate.

Satellite wafer (Ufo candy)- These are neon colored wafer pieces filled with little sugar candy balls.  They may not sound good but these are awesome candies.

Sky bars- these are chocolate bars with each different section having a different filling in them like caramel, nougat, chocolate and such.

Sen Sen- these were really really strong mints that make altoids look like butter mints.  they were black licorice flavored and only came in small packs of five mints.

Slap sticks- these were soft chewy caramel pops that had a multicolored swirl of caramels.

Candy Sticks- these were different flavored sticks that are just like candy canes but smaller.

Well thats all the candy I could find.  I hope this made you want some candy, because after typing this I just really want some candy.  If you really want to get some of this stuff here is the website I found it all on.  Link.
