Nearly a month ago, a strike of General Motor Workers started after a labor contract was on its final months and a new contract was due. After the strike began, United Auto Workers Vice President, Terry Dittes said “"The number one priority of the national negotiation team has been to secure a strong and fair contract that our members deserve,". One of the unions goals was to increase a bigger cut of the companies profit to the workers of the companies. The union also stated that for every $1 that the workers made, the CEO made almost $281. General Motors have also had trouble with themselves in the past, last year they had to lay off over 15% of their workers and shut down around 5 factories across the nation. The two groups have agreed that the workers come back to their job and they will meet in a few weeks to discuss the necessary terms for the contract to be fair for the business and the UAW. If customers of General Motors paid attention to this story, do you think they would consider not buying from the company in support of the workers? Explain.
I think that if people thought that workers deserved more than what they are getting then I think that people wouldn’t like buying from them because it’s the way some people do things, is stop buying if the business is doing something the people don't support.
Do you believe a strike is the best way for workers to have a voice for their beliefs? Explain.
I believe that it is one of the better ways for workers to have a voice, because if the workers stopped working no production would happen. So General Motors would realize that they are doing something wrong and so that have to do something to make things better for the workers.

I think that if people really did pay attention to what was going on they wouldn't agree with buying it anymore, and they shouldn't support it anymore. I do think that a strike is the best way to voice your opinions because it really shows everyone what's going on to get a change.
I do not think this will affect customers' decisions in whether to buy a Chevy, because the Chevy Silverado has so many JD Power awards, and is obviously more reliable than a Ford or Ram. I think a strike is effective because without the employees working, the company cannot accomplish much.
I don't think it would make a huge impact on their sales because most people aren't going to not buy from them just because they feel bad for the workers, however some might if they were closely related to someone suffring through lower pay from the company. I think it is one of the better ways to draw attention to their cause, because if General Motors doesn't pay attention to them then their company will suffer from it.
They might consider it because they would think that this buisness is being unfair but I think that a lot of people wouldn't care because if they give lower prices than another company then they will go there. It is a good way to do so but I feel that maybe if a lot of people just tried talking to the person in charge than maybe they will be reasonable.
I think if customers saw this story some would believe that it is unfair and boycott general motors. I think it is one of the best things to do because it is a way for your voice to be heard, without hurting others. I also think this is a good idea because if the workers strike the company will have to work with the workers because they are needed.
I hope that customers wouldn't pay attention to this story because GM workers are paid and treated much better than many competitors employees. I think that a strike would be the most effective way for the emplyees to achieve their goals because no employees means no product which means no income for a company.
I think it really depends I think maybe the workers at the compettion busiensses get paid less because they don't have a strong profit like General Motors so I think workers are wanting more of a percent since the company is at the highest of the car companies, I also agree that if you don't have workers than you won't have any product being made without them. So then the company knows they have to do something.
I do think that some people will stop buying from General Motors. But most of them probably don't really know what's happening so they will continue to buy from them. I think strike is a good way to show how bad it is without workers, however, what if a company just hires someone new
Yeah you made a great point that most people most likely don't know about this story so they have no idea about this so they will continue to buy. I feel that it would be tough for the company to hire as many as they had before the strike started. But it can be possible.
i think they would stop buying cars beacuse they know they dont treat the employees so they dont want there money going to them so they dont want there money back so i dont think the strick is good.
