Do you think that once you throw something in the trash it just goes away? Well thats not true. In 1997 a salior named Charles Moore took a short cut back to his home and noticed trash floating by, it never stopped. He was sailing in what is now known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.Where garbage gets trapped in the whirlpools from the currents. It is almost twice the size of the US. If it keeps growing like it is there will be practically no clean ocean left. What do you think we should do?

  • That is bad. We need to do something. I cant believe it thats big.
  • this is terrible! i'm not sure what we should do, but we need to do SOMETHING!
  • We should recycle more, and I think that we should burn it and use it for energy, just like coal. It would be cheap energy, and it wouldn't pollute our oceans.
  • I'm an eco friendly person. I never throw stuff in the trash. Instead, I have others do it for me :)

  • that is really bad

we need to really reduce the amout that is going into the ocean at least

  • That is horrible and thats why people shouldn't throw their junk into the rivers because they all lead to the ocean some how. I think they need to get people with huge nets to just drive by in boats and pick it up like all day for probably the rest of their lives cause it would take forever but it needs to be done i mean the ocean is like 3/4 of the world and if its not clean at all image what that would to the rest of the world.

  • stop throwing trash in the ocean? there happen to be waste facilities. and recycling bins:)
  • that really i just a bad way to get rid of garbage because now its going to be even harder to get rid of.
  • That is a really good question. We make alot of garbabe that we don't know what to do with it. Something should be done before  we all get covered in garbabe.
  • me and my dad both said this extremely disgusting.... <XP
