A local news station and a shopping mall in Fresno, California have issued PSA's about terroristic threats on social media. These threats have been targeted at the school multiple times. These ads contain information that explains that any threat made towards the school with result in expulsion or arrest. These ads came as a result of two groups making threats the past week. A 16 year old was arrested but no weapons were revovered from him. Another group of teens were caught and had one fake gun and two real guns recovered. These investigation are still ongoing and and all students have been charged with making terroristic threats according to the county sheriff. The superintendents of both schools have stated that the safety of studetns is very important and all threats are taken very seriously. Click here to read more.

Do you think the ads will help people become more aware of the issues? Why/Why Not?

Yes I do because hopefully if people see/hear something about a threat towards their school they will report it.

If you were the superintendent how would you handle this situation?

If I wre the superintendent I would alert the police and try to help the student who has made the threats.

  • Good topic and summary. You could have commented a few more times and also be sure to reply on three different days.

  • If i was the superintendent of a school and somone said that they were going to blow it up or something like that i would get them help and exspell them. i also think that the student should get there house searched for any type of ways to make bombs or if there is any guns the student could get to easily.

  • Yes becuase it will help alot of people see that if someone threats there school they will report it and someone will be in trouble.

If i was the superintendent I would contact the authorities as soon as it gets reported and i would find the person who made the threat to the school.

  • Yes i do becouse it might help them so noone will ever say it again becouse you can get in big trolble. I would pull them into the offfice and call the cops and call there mom and dad and make them come in.

  • I think that the ads are a great idea to keep people aware of threats and to know that this kind of thing is real and not a joke. If I were the superintendent I would do my best to let everyone know that this is a very serious matter and the safety of the students is the most important thing.

  • These ads will most definitely help in becoming more aware of the issue. Using these ads will have less and less people joke about the matter since more ears are open to these threats and will report them. If I were the superintendent, I would let the police know about the threats and ask them to search their house to see if they are serious about their threats. If they find nothing, I would suspend them for a week.

    • I agree, I think that the ads will help make the issue become further recognized for its seriousness. The ads will allow parents to realize that any kid can make these threats. I agree with the suspension beause they still made the threat even if they were joking.

  • Yes, because when people find out/hear about people making threats they can report it before it get worse. I would personally have and assembly and alert the students of whats going on same with the community and of course the police.

  • I agree because that people will see that it is happening to that school and people will be more carefal and will listen for people who make the threats.  I would try and help whoever is having these problems by paying for their therapy.

  • I feel that these ads will help prevent more threats that are targeting the school because people will realize how severe the punishment for sayiing something like this to a school can be. If I were the superintendent I would have an assembly to discuss the consiquences for people who threaten or do any harm toward the school and it's students.
