From young boys to adult fathers, the age range for the players of this video game is wide. With 11 year old boys playing against 29 year old college kids and sons pitted against their fathers, this game has 3.4 million gamers challenging each other simultaneously, and the number just keeps climbing higher and higher. All across the world, boys of all ages have succumbed to this addicting game, playing for hours, and even days at a time. One mother describes her experience to us after her boys began to play video games for hours instead of 20 or 30 minutes, "Now [it's] two hours, three hours and there's silence. They literally can disappear from friday to sunday. I will not see them." Her sons' addictions date all the way back to November when she posted on her blog her worries about whether or not she was the only parent to have to restrain her sons from their addiction to this video game. She then found out that she was not the only one, in fact parents across the world were dealing with similar problems. However, some parents, fathers specifically, are joining their sons and partaking in the video game craze. This addicting game has managed to draw in millions of boys across the world and continues to do so still today.

Questions:

Do you think Fortnite is becoming to addictive? If so, why?

 - Yes, I think too many people are spending way too much time on a video game instead of actually doing something productive. If they were to not be on Fortnite for hours at a time, they could be accomplishing so much more than winning a silly game.

Will Fortnite eventually go out of style? Why?

 - I think it will because all video games seem to loose their appeal due to new, more advanced games being produced. Fortnite may be popular now, but so were many other video games until they fell behind in popularity.

If you had a son/daughter that played Fortnite for days at a time, how would you handle it?

 - I would encourage him/her to go outside and explore the world, instead of exploring a fake world on a screen. I would also encourage him/her to make real friends that actually talk to him/her without having to play a video game.

  • Great topic and well done! I think this is a record for the number of replies. 17 pages!

  • I think that like all games fornight will go out of style eventualy adn everybody will go onto a new game because even though fornight is one of the most popular games now are always coming out with all new games and doing new things to  make them better.

  • Yes it thing it is very addictive, I think it is very addictive  because it challenges your mind and makes you have to think outside of the box in many situations, it also requieres you to not only fight but also have to build.

  • Every game eventually dies out and people stop playing. Take Mincraft for example. That was very popular and now you don't see many people that still play it. Yes I would handle my child. I would give them 3 hour limits a day.

  • I play Fortnite and I agree, Fortnite is very addicted. You just keep sitting there trying to get a win. After you win you put it on your Snapchat story and its just an awesome feeling. For me, I have two hour playing limits so I don't sit there all day but it is very addicting.

  • For the time being, I think that tons of boys are becoming overly addicted to Fortnite or at least extremely dependant on the game considering they can play it for hours on end without moving an inch and repeat it for several days a week if not all week. I think that Fortnite will eventually go out of style like every video game that has come out throughout the years.

  • With the popularity of Fortnite growing it isn't all that bad, now yes some people will need to learn on how to limit their time on the game, with the addiction of fortnite it's depends on who's play, some people rage quit after 3 rounds while others usually play until they win a few matches.

  • I think this is becoming addictive, because it is very funto play it and knowing that the only one to survive is the winner, it is an incredible sensation when you win, but if you can not win, you want to keep trying again and again until you achieve it, another thing is that you can play with other people from all around the world online, I think it is very early to stop being fashionable, this game came to hit with everything, in all around the world, and will have that popularity for a long years, but we all know that every few years a new game much better comes out. Being the father would have control of him, and it would limit the playing time

    • I agree I think that fortnite is becoming addictive, but I think that people will get over it. I think that parents have control over their kids, but people are blowing this out of the water.

      • if I am sure that parents manage to keep their children out of this addiction and that they play less, but what about the adults, and YouTubers who spend their day playing in that game.
