Former bachelor comes out as gay

What is the Bachelor? The Bachelor is a reality TV show. This TV show is about a girl (bachelorette) or guy (bachelor) going on tv looking for love. You register online if you're interested in being on the show to posible find love. You go into the house and there are 30 plus women or men that they get to meet and get close with. Each week the bachelor or bachelorette have to send people home. These are people they don't see themself with. They do this each week until there are two people left. Next, they choose who they want to marry and the person not chosen is more than likely the next bachelor or bachelorette.

29-year-old Colton Underwood has recently come out as gay. Colton was on season 23 of the Bachelor. He went on the show looking to fall in love with a woman. He did, so he thought. He did end up marrying Cassie Randolph, his ex wife now. They are obviously not together anymore since he has came out as gay. Cassie is supportive of him though.

Colton states, “I ran from myself for a long time. I hated myself for a long time.” Colton struggled with himself for a while. He had to process everything he was thinking and going through. He knew that he was gay so then he decided he needed to tell people. After his interview where he told the world the truth, he was happy.  "He's happy that the interview is out and that everyone knows the truth."  He's very happy with his life now. “I'm the happiest and healthiest i've ever been in my life.”  He's glad he can be himself and that he has people supporting him.

  • Have you ever seen the bachelor or bachelorette? Or the season he was on?

  • There has never been a gay season of the bachelor, do you think a gay season of the bachelor a good idea? If so, why?

  • Well done Regan!

  • I have not seen a single episode of the bachelorette and I am not familiar with anyone on the show. I think it might be a little awkward to make a special season for the gay bachelorette since there are a lot of sexual scenes. However, I think that there might be a season for gay people sometime.

  • I've never seen the show, but I do think it would be a good idea to have some sort of LGBT season. I know a lot of people would disagree with that, and the views would either skyrocket or plummet. I don't see the trouble in making a gay/lesbian season because they've been doing it for years, so I don't think homophobes will be missing much if gay people got one normal season like everyone else.

    • I think they should have another show similar to this for the gays. Just because i think there would be a lot of drama if they did one on the show.

  • I have seen episodes of the Bachelor and Bachelorette, but I don't watch it a lot. The show is very drama filled and crazy and it's good that he finally feels comfortable enough to come out, especially after being on the Bachelor. A gay bachelor wouldn't really work, but they could create a different show on its own.

    • I agree, a different show for that.

  • I have watched the bachelor and the bachelorette. I think it is a very drama filled tv show, however, it is still very entertaining. I have not watched Coltons season. I think a gay season of the bachelor would draw a lot of peoples attentino and could make money for that producing company.  I do not think they would do it however. Their tv show already has a lot going on.

    • I honestly don't know if they would do a gay season either.

  •  No, I have never seen the bachelor or bachelorette and I do not intend to do so, I have nothing against those programs but I don't find them really interesting. To be honest I don't really care if they do a gay season the bachelor, it might be a good idea and I wouldn't have a problem with it but it doesn't really change anythng for me.

  • I've never seen the Bachelor or Bachelorette, so I didn't see Colton's season. However, I have heard the news about him coming out. I think it's very cool to see that he's finally okay enough with himself to come out, even though there was probably a lot of backlash. I think that a gay season of the Bachelor would just lead the contestants to date each other and not the "bachelor". I think that a gay love show with a different set up could be good, though.
