Flu vs Covid.

With  Covid-19 around a lot of people think we have a lot more deaths this year compared to last year. And the years before, But this year doesn't have too many more deaths than 2019-2018. I personally think that the reason why people think there are a lot more this year is because of the pandemic. But the flu rate is down almost 76 percent compared to last year. The covid deaths almost equal the deaths of the flu.

In 2018 There were 2.8 million deaths without covid-19  in 2019  there were 2.9 million deaths without covid-19 as well. In the 2018-2019 flu season   there were 35 million cases of the flu that had to go to the hospital. I think the flu season was getting worse and worse over the years and that's why the deaths kept rising . In 2020 the flu rate is down 2 percent. I think that is why the deaths are just as bad as last year.

In 2020 the deaths were 2.6 million in november  that's almost 2-3 million less then the year before with only 2 months left. I think that everyone wearing a mask has decreased the flu rate and that covid isn't as deadly as the flu. I personally think that  covid- 19 isn't as deadly as we all think it is, I think that the flu is more deadly than covid but since covide is causing a pandemic that we all think it is a lot worse.

Do you think the flu is more deadly or covid-19 and why?

Do you think that the world should care more about the flu then they do?

Do you think the deaths will hit the same number as last year ??

    • I agree because people have actually found out how to actually try to prevent the flu until about a couple weeks ago people did'nt know what to do about the covid.  Now that there is a vaccine people should be able to lower the death toll.

    • I parcially agree because covid really hasn't ended yet and also we haven't heard much about the flu this year because of what is happening with this whole covid spreading so fast but you never know on how mnay deaths this could cause.

  • Yes, the flu is more deadly then covid-19. like you said above, the flu has killed more people worldwide then covid-19. I think that peopel should care more about the flu then they do, however the flu isn't as contagiuse as covid which is why I think people haven't been talking about it as much as they usally do.

  • I think that many many of the sicknesses we attribute to covid are actually caused by other causes, and many flu cases are being misidentified as covid cases. That's the only way that it makes sense for the flu, which has been gaining in number of cases every year, to have such a rapid and sudden decrease in cases. It's ridiculous that we have allowed ourselves to be sucked into this hysteria.

  • I think that covid could easily be worse because it hasn't been around that long and can easily rise again. The flue has been around allot longer and we already have vaccines for it and covid we are only developing a vaccine so they aren't really comparable. But either way they both cause mass amounts of death and have a huge impact on all the countries.

    • I agree with this because the point to reach is that we can make flu vaccines and they also change evry year according to what proffesionals say.  The covid could also be very deadly and we don't know how this vaccine is going to end up.

  • I personally think that they both are pretty deadly because they both have had pretty much the same amount of deaths to be honest they both kill people and they both are pretty bad each year going on. I think they should care about all viruses to be honest because they can wipe people out or just make them really sick.

  • i think covid is more deadly and should be treated with more precaution than the flue because 1.we're not as familiar with the corona virus as we are with the flu. We don' t know all the symptoms, I've read several cases where house hold report completely different symptoms. 2. People not cooperating with the safety precautions makes it more dangerous than the flue in many ways because we don't have a vaccine. and 3. The vaccince for the flu is available worldwide while they're still developing the vaccinve for covid and even then I doubt more than a third of people will take it. Covid is new and is still going up and down rapidly. I believe the world should care about any sickness that is contagious and or a danger to others.

  • I think that the death rate will be around the same as last year. I don't think that the flu is more deadly than covid-19, but both are not overwhelming deadly. There are numbers that between 24,000 to 62,000 people died from the flu last year. It also has been said that around 314,000 people have died from covid-19, but it has been shown that those numbers are skewed.

  • Theres no denying both are deadly and that having wore our masks almost all year is mostly the reason percents have gone down since last year and the years before. Seeing as the flu has had a vaccine for so long and theres still so many flu related deaths id certainly say its more deadly. At the same time though every year when the flu season came around we didnt have to wear a mask or really care so much to use handsanitizer and other heath things. We have done that ever since covid-19 started getting recognition. So how could we realy know which one is deadlier?
