The invasive burmese python is ruining the Florida Everglades in more ways than one. The invasive snake is killing huge amounts of prey and that is starving off the native species of animals. Florida is looking for people to come out and kill the snakes at a starting wage of $8.65 an hour. There is also many bounties to increase your pay for killing the invasive snakes. 50 dollars is added on to all snakes that measure to be over 4 foot long and 25 additional dollars for every foot over 4 feet. There is also a $200 bonus for snakes guarding a nest of eggs. 787 snakes under 4 feet were captured in the past year and there are many more snakes to be captured to save the everglades.
Questions
1. Would you fly down to Florida to save the everglades if you landed the job and why?
I would because my grandparents are moving down there and it would be such a fun time to kill snakes for a good cause.
2. Do you think they are doing the right thing by moving some invasive snakes and killing others?
I personally thing they should kill all the ones they catch because the ones that are moved will just start the same problem in a different place.

Good topic choice and well done overall. Be sure to spreadu out your comments a bit more as most of your comments were doen on one day.
I would not becasue I would not risk my life for $8.65/hour. I could get a normal job and make just as much without risk of losing my life. Also, I have never been to the everglades and don't plan on going. I think they shoudl move the snakes to sanctuary or kill them. If they move the snakes they will just reproduce in a different area and cause just as much of a problem.
I would because my family and I go to visit my grandparents when they stay down there during winter and I would like to continue to have that option. I think that the snakes may not have originated from this area but just moving them doesn't promise that the snakes will stop doing this.
I don't think that it would be something I would be interested to do, but it sounds very interesting and I think it would be a great thing to do for people that like killing snakes. Yes, I think it is because the snakes came in from somewhere else and don't belong there. If they have to be killed then they could if they want or they could just capture them some how.
I don't think I would take the job because I don't like snakes and as soon as I see one I would probably run for the hills but thats just me. Yes, I think it is fine killing them but if you just moved them they would make a new problem in some other place then you would probably have to keep doing the same thing over and over again.
No because i would rather stay more sentral and if to many people do it it could be to many people and they might lower the wage. I think it is fine but they should still try and find and save them all instead of killing them.
1. - I would, partly because it was my new job but also because I like to visit Florida and the everglades need to be preserved in order to save wildlife and not disrupt the ecosystems that are around that area.
2. - I think that it will just cause more problems if you were to move them to somewhere else, and if they were invasive there then would they be any different anywhere else? Either way, I think it's doing the right thing but maybe not in the best way possible.
No I am scared of snakes and they would have to pay me a lot more then that to come down and kill those things. Yes i think moving some of them to a new spot is smart and decreasing the species is a smart idea to.
I wouldn't becuase I dont want to be around snakes. Snakes are one of my biggest fears so I for sure wouldn't go down there. I don't think they should kill the majoity of them becuase they could possiable go extinct someday so they need to be careful of how many they kill. But I do agree with you on killing some of them, perhaps the ones they catch.
Yes, one type of animal isn't a good thing for the environment, plus snakes are really disgusting and these ones are hurting this area. I think that if I am getting rid of something gross and helping the everglades I would do it.
