SOUTH FULTON, Tenn. -- Firefighters stood by and watched a Tennessee house burn to the ground earlier this week because the homeowners didn't pay the annual subscription fee for fire service."You could look out my mom's trailer and see the trucks sitting at a distance," Vicky Bell, the homeowner, said. For Bell, that sight was almost as disturbing as the fire itself."We just wished we could've gotten more out," she said. It's the second time in two years firefighters in the area have watched a house burn because of unpaid fees. Last year, Gene Cranick of Obion County and his family lost all of their possessions in a house fire, along with three dogs and a cat, because the fire fee wasn't paid.read more at: http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/12/07/9272989-firefighters-let-home-burn-over-75-fee-again

  • This is crazy!! Why would you burn someones house down just because they didnt bay their fees or whatever?? thats just ridiculous and sad!
  • i think thats messed up they should have stopped the fire
  • If the firefighter were there, then why didn't they stop the house from burning down? If they would have helped, the people might pay for their annual sebscription fee.
  • now that is kind of crazy. letting animals burn to death come on. yes they should have paid their fees. but letting poor innocent animals die. that is just kind of cruel!

  • People have to pay fees so the can stop your house from burning down? But it is still very bad to do. What if it was your mom and she didn't pay the fee's and you just watch her house burn down.

  • Geez that is dumb I think. That's definitely taken a little too far. The whole fee thing is ridiculous in my opinion.

  • awh that is sad. To just watch your own house burn down. But i thin they took it alittle far they could have done something to stop it. you would think.

  • Yes, they should have paid the fee, but what if you can't pay the fee? It is sad that they lost their possessions and their home where all of the memories are made. I would be nervous if I was the neighbor. Would the firefighers stop the fire if it came close to their property or not?

  • Ok this is just unfair, have them pay the fee late!
  • Those people are probably kicking themselves for not paying the fees but I think they should of at least tried to put out the fire and then had the people pay for it after. I'm sure that fee would have been cheeper than letting their house burn down.
