Fire On Top Of The Trump Tower

Around 7 a.m. January 8th, there was smoke spotted on the rooftop of the Trump Tower in New York City.

About 70 firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire n within seconds. Officials stated that the fire was mainly on the floor right under the roof where all the heating and cooling units are located. The fire was caused by a defective cooling tower on the rooftop.

The building engineer and one other person were evaluated for smoke Inhalation but refused further medical treatment. Additionally, one fire fighter suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Also, the tower itself doesn’t show signs of fire.

Questions:

1. Even though it wasn't necessary to evacuate the building, would you have left it?

2. Why do you think the two employees refused medical treatment?

  • Well done Hannah! Be sure to include personal thoughts within your summary. -5 late
  • 1. I may not have left if I know that the building is stable nothing was damage.

    2. Maybe they think they don't need it, they just need time to get some fresh air.

  • I would have left the building to avoid being trapped in case a legitimate and threatening fire started, but I'm not completely sure why the two employees refused to receive treatment. Perhaps, they just thought that it was unnecessary, or their pride got in the way of their health, or maybe they didn't want to pay for treatment.

  • Yes for sure because you never know what could happen it is a pretty big building and would be bad if the fire got bigger. Because they probably didn't need it or they thought they where tough stuff and think they are fine.

  • I believe that I would have evacuated just for my own safety and as well for others. Reasons why is because I want to make sure to be safe and make sure that nothing bad is going to happen. So yes, if something like this happened and I didn't know what it was I would have evacuated. I think that maybe they didn't want to have to pay for that. Or, since they weren't seriously injured they wanted to make sure everyone else was okay. This was a good article.

  • I still would've left. I don't know what would happen next so I would just leave to be safe. I'm not sure why you would refuse medical treatment, I heard some religions prohibit some of that stuff so maybe it had to do with that.

  • Yes because either way you never know when a small fire can turn into a huge fire or have an explosion. Because they weren't hurt or not effected. Sometimes you breathe in a little smoke and are perfectly fine.

  • I would not evacuate unless the people who worked there felt the need to leave. Or if they were telling me and or other people that it was an emergency and we need to leave.

  • I think that I would definitely leave even though it isn't necessary because I wouldn't want to risk anything. You can also never be sure why the people refused treatment. They could have just not thought it was necessary and not wanted to go through the hassle of it all.

  • I would have left the building even though it maybe didn't seem necessary. You can't be for sure all the time. I think the two employees refused medical treatment because most humans are like that. If they don't think they need to do something and it's their choice, than they won't do it.
