On February 21st, at Playa del Carmen beach in Mexico, a bomb exploded that was attached to a ferry boat. Two dozen people that were on the boat were injured, but not seriously. Authorities have been searching for who placed the bomb there and what their motive was. They feel that this wasn't an act of terrorism, or carried out by a gang.
Later, on March 2nd, they found another homemade bomb underneath a ferry boat. However, this bomb was attached to a boat that had been out of use for 10 months and had been docked. This confused the investigators even more. In the meantime, they say for tourists to be aware of their surroundings at all times, and for now, avoid riding the ferries.
If you had a vacation planned to go to this area in Mexico, would you still go?
Yes, I would still go. I believe that this type of thing could happen at anytime, anywhere, so it is worth risking it as long as I am careful.
Who do you think would do this and why?
I think that someone could have placed the bomb there as revenge to someone on board. As for the other bomb, it could have just been one they placed there to see if it would stay on the bottom of the boat, and it could also have been put there to throw off the police.

Well done Justina!
If I had a planned vacation to go to that area, I would definitely still go. I would just avoid the ferries and just be careful of my surroundings. I think maybe someone was trying to get revenge on someone who was on the ferry or maybe someone who owned the ferry. Or they could've just not been thinking straight and didn't realize that it was going to hurt people, but i'm not really sure.
1) i don' think so because I would feel threated and not want to go there.
2)I think people that are mad would do this and it would be to just to relaes anger.
1.) I would still go on vacation in Mexico. In case I planned to stay on a Ferry, I might think about that now but yes, I would not give up on my vacation.
2.) To be honest, I have no idea. If the police, like you said, doesn't think it was a terroristic act or something done by gangs, then it could have been a revenge act or so.
I would still go, I would just avoid the ferries. I think it was either someone who just wanted to pull a prank, hated someone on the boat, or it really was a gang. Nobody would do that without having a reason.
Yes I would still go because you can't live your whole life in fear. This kind of thing can happen anywhere and you just need to live and have fun. I think anyone could have done this as a type of "rebeling" which is horrible to do.
Yes, I would still go. I wouldn't let just that allow me to cancel a trip I had probably been planning for months. I think it could have just been someone trying to make trouble. I don't think this was meant to kill anyone or even hurt anyone badly. If it was why would they place a bomb under a docked boat?
In the article it stated that this type of bomb was not that big, and it wasn't used to actually kill people. So whoever did this wasn't actually trying to kill anyone, and fortunately no one got seriously injured or killed in the explosion.
Yes I would still go its got to be rare for something to happen like this so I would just take the chance a go enjoy Mexico. It could have been a terrorist or someone very upset trying to get back on someone.
I agree. I don't want to live in fear, and take away my chances to do fun and exciting things like traveling to Mexico. These type of things could happen anywhere adn at anytime. We just need to be aware of these things.
