Federal Flavor Ban on Vapes.

The epidemic of e-cigarettes has spread to schools and teachers are now concerned. Teachers have observed that students are using replacement items, like nicotine patches. The FDA is currently trying to put a ban over vaping along with all of the fruity flavors. However, as of now many flavoured vape products will still be available to buy.  It was also shown that the rates of vaping had double from 2017 to 2019, including teenagers. The president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids said that parents should guard up and teach their children about the dangers of nicotine. Vitamin E Oil has been the main cause of lung damage according to the CDC. All vapes are trying to be ruled out but will most likely remain addictive to teenagers so parents should take action on this epidemic.

Do you think not selling some of the popular fruity falvors will help the epidemic?

I don't think so because like it said teens find other things  with nicotine to use as a replacement.

What do you think could be done to stop the epedemic?

Though they have already raised the age, teens are still vaping and finding ways to fuel their addiction. I think one of the only ways to stop it is to stop selling it completely or have much more strict rules.

  • Good story choice and summary! You could have replied quite a few more times though.

  • I think that not selling them would probably make a majoirty stop using vapes yes. A lot of people use vapes and smoke just to seem cool or do tricks, but without the certain flavors many would be less likely to use vapes. However, there are still some that would still use vapes regardless of whether or not theres a fruity flavor involved. The only real way to stop the epidemic would be to stop the production of vapes entirely.

  • I don't think it will work because teenagers find some way to get nicotine. I don't think we could stop it and you can't stop selling it. But, I think that people that are under age are allowed to vape if they want to that's their choice.

  • I think to prevent vaping in schools they should stop flavoring the vapes, but also they should put like a sensor to know if a a person is vaping or not. I do not know how they could do this but if they found a way to they should.

    • I agree that they should stop selling of flavored vapes because this could make the product less appeling to teenagers. I dont know what you mean by putting a sensor on vapes. I think that the selling of vapes should stop becasue it is a danger to peoples health.

  • I do think that not selling some of the popular flavors could help the epidemic. Not by a lot, but it'll still bring the numbers down by a small amount. I think that they should raise the legal vaping age to 21, just like alcohol and tobacco products. Although you may be a legal adult by 18, you're still in high school. This raises a problem because seniors will buy under age high schoolers vape products at a raised price so that they're making a profit.

  • I kinda think it will help the epidemic. Most do it for the flavors. But for those that have an addiction will still find another way, like you said. In fact, they might start to choose smoking instead. A way to get teens to stop is to make something to stop their addiction. Something that doesn’t harm their bodies but feels like a vape.

  • I think that banning some of the fruity flavors could help a little bit. The flavors hide the smoke smell and make it easier for people to get away with. However, like you said, people will probably find other ways to vape. Honestly there isn't much that can be done to stop the epidemic. People can tell others that vaping is a bad and unhealthy thing but people have to make the decision themselves to stop vaping.

  • I believe that banning some of the fruity flavors might help the vaping epidemic. I think this because so many young people vape because the flavors are appealing to them. It probably won't help people that are addicted to it though, becuase they might find a replacement for it. I agree that teens will still get ahold of these products even if the age is raised and that didn't have much of an effect of the problem.

  • I think not allowing to sell those flavors could press teens away from it, but some kids might still just buy them for the kick. I think a way to stop this would be to teach kids of the health affects and to introduce alternative things that could lessen stress.
