Recently, The United States Food and Drug Association warned consumers about potential dangers in foods prepared with liquid nitrogen. Some foods that are prepared with liquid nitrogen right before they’re sold is ice cream, cereal or cocktails. The FDA is becoming aware that these foods are causing severe injuries to skin and damaging internal organs, due to some liquid nitrogen still being present when consumed. Injuries still occur even after the liquid nitrogen has fully evaporated because the temperature of the food is extremely low. The FDA hasn’t said how many reports of injuries it has received, or how many life threatening cases there have been.

Why do you think liquid nitrogen prepared foods can be so harmful?
They’re harmful because they’re consumed too quickly after being dipped in the nitrogen. I think it can be harmful to a person's body because if you’re consuming it right after it’s prepared, there isn’t enough time for the liquid nitrogen to fully evaporate.
After reading this, what do you think about food dipped in liquid nitrogen still being sold?
I think it shouldn’t be consumed and this news should be spread around the country so people will stop selling food dipped in liquid nitrogen. It obviously isn’t good for your body and has many risks such as burning skin, damaging internal organs and difficulty for people to breathe if they have asthma.

Liquid nitrogen is an extremely cold substance that can give you frost bite within seconds of holding it, without the proper safety equipment. Obviously comsuming such a substance, may seem cool, but is extremely risky.
Eating liquid natrogen, to me, sounds like a fad, much like charcoal based food items. Of course, this isn't safe and selling it is really just for looks and money. I don't believe things like this should stay on the market.
I've had liquid nitrogen ice cream many times and I make an absolute point of it to get it every year at the Spencer fair (as well as a turkey leg and seeing the chainsaw sculpter guy), but I never really worried about it injuring me. I think that as long as they have enough time in between the preparation and serving of it, it would be fine because the nitrogen would evaporate in that time.
Food dipped in liquid nitrogen is harmful becuase they are being consumed before the liquid nitrogen has evaporated. Even when it has fully evaported it is still harmful for your body because the temperature of the food is low. I think food that's dipped in liquid nitrogen needs to stop being sold because who knows how many people have gone to the hospital or have died becuase they weren't aware of this.
I think that the food can be harmful because the liquid nitrogen can be so cold that it burns and sticks to the skin cells and that can cause issues to the body. i dont think it should still be sold because it causes issues to the body.
I belive that food prepared with liquid nitrogen is ok if prepared right or made sure that there is no Nitrogen is left. I think they could be Harmful if the food isn't made right or made lazy. I think about luquid Nitrogen food still being sold is sorta ok but not really, I would look out for it etc.
Liquid nitrogen has a very low temperature. If you consume it to fast, it can be even more dangerous becasue it didn't have time to warm up a little bit. It also doens't give it time to evaporate. I think that companies will still sell food containing liquid nitrogen because people are amazed by the vapor that comes out after you eat it. I think that if people know the full harmful effects, they won't continue eating it.
I think that consuming the liquid nitrogen prepared foods are indeed very harmful. Clearly, this is a chemical like substance and it's being abused just for show. The FDA is finally showing some concern for this "cool" product because of consuming the nitrogen too early. I think they should have taken an eariler notice to prevent some of these injuries. I think food dipped in nitrogen shouldn't be sold because of the effects on us. Such as internal organ damage, asthma, and burning skin. I don't think those things are worth the cool effect it has.
Consuming liquid nitrogen is not something safe for anyone it is a chemical that is used to preserve many things, but people have been adding it to drinks etc. just because the fog that come off of it looks cool. I think in general even though it is sold as a new and "in" thing people should stay away from it and they FDA can't just take that type of processing away because then most ice cream and cereal buisnesses will be out of buisness. I think the FDA should have a certain time limit before the food can be sold allowing it to evaporate.
Yes, consuming liquid nitrogen is dangerous, and I agree that because it "looks cool" isn't a good enough reason to be using it in edible things. I think it would be a good idea for the FDA to set a time limit for how long you have to wait to eat the food after it's dipped.
