Facebook Clowns?

Summary: Extra police officers have been put on campus for St. Joseph Missouri students safety. Multiple students have been receiving direct messages from a facebook account from people disguised as clowns. The police are only precautionary since the clowns themselves have not made a threat to any of the students in their messages..

Thought Provoking Questions:

How would you feel if someone disguised as a clown sent you a friend request? Would you respond?

Do you think putting extra cops on campus is needed?

what would be a reason behind all these clown related events?

My thoughts- I think these clowns are just trying to scare people.. They are being a little extreme though. It could also be a sign of terrorism. If I got a message from a clown on facebook, I would tell my parents and report it to the police.

  • Well done overall! I think your summary is a bit brief however.

  • I would ignore the messages because I know they are trying to scare me. I would not accept the friend request, block, and report the user. I think extra forces on campus are more for the feeling of safety than actually needed. I think the reason that clowns have spread across the country is because someone was being a creep by trying to get a hold of children and people thought it would be funny if they pretended to do the same thing.

  • I would be a littler terrified, from whats been heard about these clowns isn't good and personally I dont want anything to do with them.

  • I probably would just ignore the request. Putting extra cops out draws more attention and I feel like thats all the clowns want is attention. Since its not October my guess is people want to try and play "scary pranks" on people during this month and some are taking it to far and out of proportion.

  • I would just ignore the friend request and delete it. I don't really think they need to be on campus, but they should be ready just in case something would happen. I think people dressing up as clowns are either looking for attention, or they're criminals.

  • I would not accept the friend request or respond to it. I think it would be good to have extra cops on campus. I think at first people thought it was funny but did not know it would be this bad.

    1. I definitely would not accept the request. I am very paranoid about letting strangers follow me on social media and am really careful when it comes to that kind of stuff.
    2. I think it's a good precautionary step just in case anything did happen.
    3. People may just think it's funny. I really don't find it funny at all, there's nothing funny about scaring and threatening people to the point where they ask for cops to protect their children at school.
  • I would not decline or accept it. I think it is needed because some of the people that dress up as clowns can be dangerous. I think the people want to get a good laugh and scare people especially since it is October.

  • I would feel scared and block them because that is scary since all the clown stuff going on. I think some people to get attention on social media and then there are people who are serious about it and do it to hurt people to attend to actually scare them.

  • I would probably delete the friend request, or not accept it. I think that putting a few extra cops on campus would be a good idea. There a lot of lives at stake and even though most of the clowns are harmless, some might not be. It is better to be safe rather than sorry. I think that it is because Halloween is coming up and since the first sightings, people think that this would be a fun joke to play on people.
