Explosive Device Blows up on High School Principal's Car

A pipe bomb purposely placed on a silver Jeep utility sport vehicle went off on November 18 and caused damage to the grill, radiator, and engine block. The car belonged to Bellingham High School Senior Principal, Lucas Giguere. The police have come to the conclusion that this was not a random act and that the principal had been targeted. Extra safety per cations were taken at school the following day to ensure that students and  staff were protected.

1. Why do people feel that violence is the only answer to any problem?

I think that most people think the only way to get their point across is to act out in a form of violence such as threats or even examples like what happened in this story.

2. Do you think that the recent increase in terrorist activity is giving people even more confidence and reason to involve themselves in harmful acts, why or why not?

I think that the increase in terrorist activity is a major factor in all the recent violence going on. It's all over the news and it's a way to get attention.

  • Well done overall! I do think your summary and personal thoughts are a bit brief overall.

  • Everyone gets mad, but yet some people take it way out of control like someone killing a person because there mad is just wrong and blowing up a car is wrong to. Well yes because weeks on ends when something happens thats all you hear about for a few weeks or so

  • 1. It depends on the person, but I generally think that people respond to things that them upset with violence because they find it an easier way. In an angry mind, compromising and thinking isn't always clear.

    2. With all the terrorist attacks, I don't think it would cause a high school student or whoever it was to blow up a car, unless they already had violent intentions. I do think that people with violent mindsets will become influenced by the terrorist attacks and will carry out their own attacks.

  • I think that most people don't think when they're angry for any reason and that inability to think will lead to some rash decisions that they'd probably regret later. I think that the recent increase in terrorist activity has given rise to people who were already in the mindset of a terrorist to maybe get a little overconfident in their actions.

    • Do you think there's another way that people who resort to violence could be taught, such as with the words? I agree that people who cause terrorist attacks just want to cause harm.

  • A lot of violence is happening a lot these past couple of weeks. A lot of shootings, or any other acts of terrorism are going on right now. I think that some people want to be famous and get attention which, I think, encourages people to commit these acts of violence.

  • I feel like recent attacks in our country have encouraged others to follow the terrorists to get publicity. People want to be like those who have caused damage because they get lots of attention on the media. I also think that people like violence because it is promoted in our society and lots of games have convinced people that violence is okay.

    • Do you think that violent games should be allowed or there should be a limit and warning that goes along with playing these games? Why does society think that violence is the answer, why can't kindness be the answer? I agree with you that people seek attention through their actions, but there are other ways to gain attention.

  • I think people don't think about the consequences and they think it's easier to get your point across if you use violence. I think the increase in activity is giving people a reason to act out in this way.

    • Why do people want the negative attention that terror brings, there are other ways to get the world's attention. Is the government doing enough to possible decrease the amount of attacks?
