The emu was reportedly "running up and down the street, trying to get into people's houses'' before it was caught. Police had to enlist the help of local residents, who were asked to try and catch the 4ft bird in their homes, before it was eventually caught at around 8am. Acting Sergeant Zoe Parnell and PCSO Stephen Huxtable from Devon and Cornwall police found the emu in Riddell Avenue, close to where it was first seen on St George's Road, near Pilton Park, at around 8am. Sergeant Parnell said she "thought it was a bit of a wind-up" when she first received the call from the public. She said: "But when I arrived at the scene to check it out, I could see this bird in the street. It was trying to get into people's houses. Obviously it was finding that difficult, and would try the next one.

Well that doesn't happen all the time. i think its funny how it just escaped and ran around, but i would pry freak out if i saw that.
That would be crazy to see a huge bird like that running around. I'm sure some people got quite a scare if they saw it in their homes.
Well this is odd, lol you don't see this happen to often. I hope everyone and the emu is okay.
This is such a random thing! its actually kind of funny i think! To see a emu running around in the street would be kind of entertaining.
That would be scary. those birds can kill you with a kick. I wonder why it tried to get into peoples houses. I'm glad no one got hurt.
Wow that's odd i wonder how the Emu got out and why it wasn't noticed till it got to the street it was caught on. It is kind of funny though that the bird kept going to each house trying to find one that would open.
I think that is something else! Defiantly shocking, and not expected. I wonder where it all even came from, but i hope everyones ok! I think that is so something else!
Well at least it was an emu that escaped and not like a tiger or something.
Well, that would be a sight to see! Weird, though, an emu just running through the street? That's probably a moment those people will never forget!
