"RIP Harambe" Is Elon Musk's new rap song that was released on SoundCloud over the weekend. The song is 2 minutes and pays tribute to the gorilla Harambe, and since being uploaded has been streamed over 250,000 times according to Rollingstone.com. This comes as a surprise because Musk is well known through Space X and Telsa but not as a rapper. Many thought the song was a massive April Fools joke planned by Musk, but it has been confirmed it is not an April Fools joke. I see it as a weird pastime for Musk, he certainly knows how to enjoy himself. The song has started to receive some backlash because people think it is not something to joke about. Some people just don't like the song, which Musk disagrees and said: "This might be my finest work."

1) What do you think of a figure like Musk releasing a song like this? What do you think will happen to his reputation?
Musk has done some controversial things in the past and has made some surprising announcements so it does surprise me. I don't think it will have a big impact after a couple of months.
2) How would you compare Musk to a rapper like Eminem or other famous rappers?
I think the song is kind of bland and doesn't have the best lyrics.

1. i mean it wouldnt be the strangest thing hes ever done this is the man who put a super car in space just because he can
2. i mean hes not exactly a professional that kind of comparison would be like comparing a 5 year old in art class to picasso
I think it is good for him to take a break once in a while. It depends on what people think his intentions were while making this song. For him to go from a guy who works with spaceships to writing a rap song is pretty impressive, but other rappers may think it is a joke.
I agree it is good for him to take a break, from articles written about him it seems like all he does is work and spends days in his factories at a time. I think that releasing the song is his way of broadening his horizons.
I think he was branching out and it might boost his reputation because it will be reaching out people who like rapping but it might ruin his reputation with his current fans.
He's probably not one of the best rappers compared to other famous rappers becaause they've been rapping longer, but I don't listen to rapping so I wouldn't know.
I don't think it will boost his reputation he has gotten a lot of negative press after he announced the $35,000 Telsa. The accomplishments Space X has helped to boost his reputation. Musk probably doesn't care what some people think of him.
Elon Musk isn't a typical "professional" guy, he cracks jokes all the time even if they might seem offensive to others. I don't think his reputation will be harmed from releasing this song, especially since he's survived plenty of backlash before. I've never heard any of Musk's music, so I don't know how he compares, but I'm sure he realizes that he's not going to get any more famous from rap songs.
I agree he doesn't fit the typical CEO stereotype, he does do some things that are controversial and has received a fair amount of backlash in return. I don't think he released the song to be more famous, but as a way to pass the time for him.
1. I love how someone like him can still joke around and be apart of the media like that. It shows that he's not just another rich guy. I'm sure lots of people won't like what he did which is expected when you're as popular as him.
2. I haven't heard the song but I'm sure it's not as good as other rappers seeing as it's his first one.
It's cool how he can joke around as he does, it makes him more relatable. After he moved to the US he worked to make his fortune which makes him more relatable.
