Elon Musk Aims to Put a Starship in Orbit in 6 Months.

14 days ago, Elon Musk said that he wants to try putting a Starship in orbit. This presentation took place at the SpaceX’s Southern Texas site, near the town of Boca Chica. This starship is approximately 165 feet tall or 50 meters tall, the starship is called “Starship Mk1,” since its a test for the colonization of Mars, that would be in the 2030s, this ship will most likely  be uncrewed, and fly about 12-miles-high test flight. Elon Musk said this on Saturday, “‘I mean, this is going to sound totally nuts, but I think we want to reach orbit in six months.’” Elon thinks that Mk 1 will not reach orbit, he thinks that Mk 4 or 5 might reach orbit in the end. The Starship Mk 2 is already under construction this Starship might be finished within the next couple of months at most. SpaceX already plans on building Mk 3 in a month at Bona Chica, this prototype might be ready in three months from now. The Mk 4 starship will be ready shortly thereafter, this starship might be the first ship vehicle to orbit the Earth. “Getting a starship ready to orbit by spring 2020 should be achievable,” Musk said.

Why do you think this is important for us to test these starships?

Its important to test new aircrafts because it might put the crew, on the shuttle, at risk. Everyone deserves to be safe and secure in anything.

What would you feel if the Mk 4 starship would not be ready for orbit by Spring 2020?

I would be disappointed and confused, because Elon Musk said this would be achievable by Spring in 2020 and I would feel like he lied to us.

  • Good story and summary. You only commented one time however and that is worth 20 points.

  • Because they are mutually benefitial to us and musk. Ithink that it is a long shot and that it might not make it.

  • I thinks it is important cause we dont know what it could be like, i would definetly be a new thing, Im not really into all that kinda stuff so it doesnt really bother me when it starts flight.

  • I think it's important because we really don't know what it could be like or how it would react. I don't think it would be very wise for them to put any of it out because I think it should be tested first and for a while before anything gets put out for people to see.

  • It's important because if we're putting people into the ship, and if we want it to go it's task correctly, we have to make sure the ship works properly before sending it off. It would be a shame if the ship wasn't ready in time, but that doesn't nessisaryly mean it won't come at all. As the saying goes, better late than never.

  • I agree you never want to put people at risk so its better to test it then kill people. I would not really know caue i dont think it would impact me much if it did at all.

  • Even though it said that the starship will be without a crew, it's still important for the safety of people when it takes off and when it lands, in case something like an explosion happens. Also, the testing will ensure the best possible flight of the starship so that it'll actually work. I wouldn't really care either way if its ready as I don't really think that venturing into space is important.

  • If the Mk 4 starship was not ready for orbit in time I would be disappointed, as would almost anyone. Of course, Elon, just like the rest of us, is human, and can't predict the future, so I wouldn't feel too bad about it. All in all by the time 2020 rolls around we will be much closer to orbiting a ship, and we may have better knowledge on how to prepare space crafts for orbit and/or travel. So maybe by waiting the extra time the ship will be more durable and longer-lasting.

  • I definitely think it's important for us to test these starships. Experiments and tests teach us everything we know. Improvement on these experiments and retesting have gotten us to where we are technologically. These ships are going to be important. Sally Ride -the first woman in space- once said, "our future lies with today's kids and tomorrows space exploration," basically saying we need people willing to expand human knowledge by going to space.

  • I think that it's a very important thing to make sure everything is running right and it's safe for everyone.

If it's not ready then get it ready. I'd rather have it not ready and safe then ready and dangerous
