A man accused of killing 22 people at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, last year, where he was targeting victims of Hispanic origin, has been charged with 90 counts of federal hate crimes.
Patrick Crusius, 21, already faces capital murder charges in state court.
He could face the death penalty under the new charges if found guilty of the attack in August 2019.
A prosecutor said the shooting was an act of domestic terrorism and an attack against an entire ethnic group.
The shooting, believed to be the eighth deadliest in modern US history, took place in a border city of 680,000 residents that is 80% Hispanic.
Crusius is accused of driving 11 hours to El Paso from his hometown of Allen, near Dallas, on 3 August and opening fire with an AK-47 style rifle inside the Walmart store.
He then surrendered and confessed that he was targeting Mexicans.

This has been plagiarized.
He probalby targeted Mexicans simply becuase he was racist. Unfortunately, people can have so much hate for others, in this case, hate that origionated from race, that causes them them to do horrible things. Violence is never right, especially if people are being targeted for their race.
I think that he targeted mexians because he didnt like them or had something against them. Also if I was in a Walmart while there was a active shooter I would call the police then run as far away from that Walmart as I could so that I avoid getting shot.
The El Paso shooter probably has a hate towards the Hispanic race. He probably targeted Mexicans because he is racist and has a hate for the ethnic group. The El Paso shooter probably had something happen to him and he was thinking that opening fire on a crowd of Mexicans in Walmart would help. However, this only causes problems to get worse and does not solve anything. I think that violence is not the key to solving anything.

It is terrible what happened and I'm not sure completely why he targeted Mexicans, but it could've been they did something to him in the past he couldn't let it go. I don't think I would ever be put in this position but if I was I would probably do the same thing he did and tell the truth about what I did.

I feel like he targeted Mexicans because for some reason he felt like they did him wrong in some way. First off I would have gone into a Walmart and shot the place up but if I was some type of victim or I saw him I would try to do as much as possible to try and stop him from making the biggest mistake in his life.
I would of tried to tell everyone to run if i just saw some guy walk in with his gun and told the staff right away to close the doors and call the police
